Good Monday Morning, Crew!

:hi::donut:
Welcome to the Monday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had a great weekend filled with R&R! I surely did. :woohoo: And now, a new work week is upon us, it's Monday, and it's my last day of vacation. I don't know where the past eight days went so damned quickly. Do YOU have any idea? Me either. Time sucks!

As I'm sure you're aware, summer has officially arrived! It's the time of year for cookouts, camping, going fishing and all the other things we can't do during the cold ass winters! I'm so happy! I love the summer!

So, are you ready to start this new week with me? Well, let's get it on! :bounce:

17. I'm glad to hear you had a good time.
It feels good to not have school on your shoulders for a while, huh?

That's the way I feel about eBay. I've been looking at quite a few items, and every time I think I'm going to win one of them, somebody posts a bid in the last few seconds and takes it away from me. It's called "sniping" and it makes me mad! :grr::mad:

19. Ebay should randomise the last minute before the end, so the snipers
miss out. In other words, it goes "This item will be sold in the next ten minutes" then sometimes sells them in the first nine minutes, and says "this is the last minute" and picks a random number from 1 to 59 and sells it on that second.

28. Interesting idea!
I'm not sure what the best solution would be, but there is sniping software I can download that will do the exact same thing for me as all the rest. I've avoided it so far, because I don't feel it's really fair...but DAMN! I wanted a couple of those things! x(

Other than your run-in with your ex did you have a good time this weekend? Well, guess you must have if you didn't get home until 6:00 a.m.

My weekend was pretty calm, just doing stuff around the place, but I did accomplish a lot. Been kicking around the idea of moving, but I'm not real sure about that decision yet.

91. I know what you
mean about all the stuff. Maybe that's why I'm having such a hard time making the decision. Additionally, my neighborhood if really safe, and I fear that I won't find a place I can afford in another safe neighborhood. But I'd truly like to move closer to work. I commute for about 1/2 hour which isn't bad. But I live out in the middle of nowhere and have to drive anywhere whenever I want to do something. Ah well, I'll keep thinking about it. Who knows . . .

Heading out of here soon, so you have a good rest of the day. Hope you get to talk to your sweetie today.

16. Good morning, Clintmax!
:donut: :hi:

I haven't had a cold ass winter since 1994, so I've sort of forgotten about the seasons ... except for the hot ass summers in South FL. But NEXT year I bet spring and summer will be a big deal! :bounce: I love summer, too, and I'm really enjoying it here. I went for a long drive with harleykid yesterday and she showed me around, how to get to where she works, etc. It's incredibly gorgeous here. :loveya:

Yeah, I'm ready to start the week. And I hope you do something wicked fun for your last day of vacation! :bounce:

20. Good Morning, Miss Airmens!
:hi::hug:
It's SO good to see you here with me so early! :bounce: Yes, I know you've been down here and haven't had to deal with the cold. In Missouri during the winter, I'd get up and there would be 13 inches of snow on the ground and the thermometer outside would read: "One". Brrrrr! :scared: So, I'm sure you'll come to see the seasons as I do!

I hope I get to get out and do something fun for my last day too! I was playing with my camera yesterday and tried a close up shot using the macro setting. What do you think:

31. Our biggest thrill in FL
was watching the car carriers load up the snowbirds' cars in the spring. But then it was so muggy!

13 inches of snow in Missouri? :wow: I sure wouldn't like that. We had plenty of snow in NY and PA! Harleykid says it doesn't snow a lot here, but it might snow more where our property is than where she lives because we're closer to the mountains. I remember taking it personally when it was still snowing in the spring.

I think that picture is GORGEOUS! :bounce: :loveya: I'm so glad you're enjoying your camera!

We don't have the snowbirds here in Tallahassee like you did down in Boca. We just have LOTS and LOTS of kids! FSU dont'cha know!

Yes, the average total snowfall in Springfield is like 26 inches. It's pretty...but it's a pain in the ass, let me just tell you.

49. It was sort of funny.
In the fall, we'd see them parked along the side of the road and we'd say, "DAMN! The car carriers are here!" Then, in the spring, we'd see them and say, "WOOHOO! The car carriers are here!"

Ah, yes, FSU. We have lots of kids in east Boca ... FAU.

I like snow when it just falls silently, leaves a nice little dusting on the grass and road and then melts off the road by morning. That happened on Christmas Eve one year when we lived in NY. It was beautiful! And I had to walk to a mom and pop gift shop for a special gift from Germany. The street lamps were on, so it was just like a postcard the way they lit up the snow as it was falling. I'll always remember that. But I DON'T like snow that keeps coming or comes with wind and hangs around to get plowed and sanded ... and everything in sight is grey.

I can remember spending at least 30 minutes after work cleaning off my car, struggling to get out of the parking lot (because the plows left the snow in front of all the parked cars), and taking another 30 minutes to drive the 2 miles home, just so I could be greeted with a plowed-in driveway that I couldn't shovel b/c the snow was too wet and heavy to move. But I couldn't leave my car on the street b/c it was illegal to park in front of your own house. I would be in a very bad mood by the time harleydad came home. x( Yep ... summer is a good thing. :D

Oh, yeah, and I lived in Maine when I was a kid, so I know about blizzards, too. Damn near died in one when I was in 3rd grade. :scared:

this is Santa's big scene..." Sounds wonderful, my dear! I'd go out while it was snowing sometimes too just to watch it come down. Everything was so silent and pretty! Then...try to drive on it. x( THAT sucks.

59. I think I forgot to sing that.
 Quick! Where's the time machine? We need to go back and do it right!

You're RIGHT! I LOVED snow when I was a kid (if you don't count that blizzard). When we moved to VA, I just wanted to go back to where it snowed. But once I started driving, it was a different story. I HATE driving in it. Harleydad had a 4WD truck when we lived in NY and loved to drive it in the snow. He would call all the neighbors and see if he could run errands for them when it snowed more than a few inches. Of course, he grew up in northern NY, where there's snow on the roads all winter long.

I'm pretty excited about this year, though ... now that we're sort of settled. Christmas is here, with us, at this house! Harleykid and her husband, Airmen, and grandson will all be here. We have NEVER all spent Christmas together before b/c Harleykid wasn't married last time the rest of them were with us in 2001. :bounce:

It will be great, won't it?! I'm happy you'll have your family there with you this time! I hate the shovelling part. It would snow so much and be so wet, that one could easily break ones back trying to get it off the freaking driveway. x(

65. Yep!
Now let's all hope Harleydad can be here, too! I don't THINK his managers are that insensitive ... but they might be. :scared:

Harleydad actually did injure his back shoveling wet snow, way back in his 20s. I watched him go down to his knees and thought he'd had a heart attack. It was all I could do to help him into the house. That's the injury that flared up a few months ago -- it gets a bad muscle spasm, just out of the blue or if he's been doing something to irritate it. Bad snow shoveling! If his bosses ever let him telecommute from here, we just won't have to go anywhere when it snows ... and that means we won't have to shovel it. Just sit in front of the fireplace and watch it being pretty. :loveya: (Dream on, right?)

But, for now, I have to get my day started. I hope you have a wonderful day and can do something fun! Say hello to Greekspeak for me. :loveya:  :hi:

.....all DUers are doing fine this morning. Here's something:donut: to get that other eye open.

Is anyone watching the series on the History Channel (Sunday evenings) called "Revolution"? The entire series is wonderful and shows the great odds our :patriot:Forefathers :patriot: were up against and how often we almost didn't become a new nation. :patriot: George Washington was not the hero from day one that he's made out to be in some history books. He had a lot of learning to do and men's lives were at stake while he slowly did this learning.:patriot:

Well, let's get out there and attack a few more neocons and let them know we won't let them tear apart what our Forefathers gave us.:headbang:

Nice picture. You did good! Yes, I know what you mean about time flying. I had a three day week-end, and it's hard to believe it's Monday again. Well, I'm taking off of work on Friday again, and we've got Monday and Tuesday off, so I'll have a REALLY long weekend.

I did accomplish a lot of extra domestic chores so, I'm happy about that. You know, stuff one keeps putting off! So I didn't waste all my time away.

Oh, and it's day three without coffee. I do this every so often, but lately, coffee has not been as satisfying for me, so I just thought I'd stop drinking it for a while and see what happens. I don't think I'm crabby, but then I live alone, how would I know?

90. Did you know about the
Consumer Reports rating b/4 you bought your camera? They give pretty reliable information. But your picture is good only because you took it.

The coffee thing? I only drink a few cups in the morning anyway, so I'm not a huge coffee drinker. So far I'm not missing it. Used to drink a lot of tea, but I'm not to interested in that either right now. Mostly water, but I think my new addiction may be V-8. The spicy one

I've gotta be heading out here pretty soon. Wishing you a good last day of vacation. Be sure to treat yourself extra good today.

I've got to say this place is bad for procrastinators. I actually called out today so I can get some work for work done. It's my fault - did nothing all weekend but read DU (and even at that I'm such a lurker that I probably only made about 10 posts).

...I'm out of here by 5 am every day (and don't usually wake up until I'm standing in the WaWa with a cup of coffee in my hand at around 5:15). My company blocks me from even reading DU let alone posting. So I only get to start the day with such pleasant people every now and then when I take the day off.

BTW - I love the idea of having a Monday as the last day of vacation. I think I'm going to do that for mine. It's just brilliant - the worst day of the week for most and you get to use it as one last day to relax.

I usually start the crew thread between 5:30 and 5:45 am so you're already at work and going strong. It's good to see you today anyway, Man! :bounce:

107. Good Monday morning, Clintmax!
:hi: The coffee hasn't reached the end of my typing fingers yet. This is hard!

I wasn't here everyday last week so I need to ask you to point me to where you posted your new pictures. I'm going through my old pictures and may find some to scan in so there may be some new old ones some day.

Enjoy your last day of vacation--make the most of it. :bounce: ;) :bounce:

110. Good Morning, Swimboy!
:hi::hug:
Yes, it IS hard to type correctly if the coffee hasn't reached your hands. I've only posted one new one today. The others I posted from my new camera are in my Journal. The one I posted today is this one:

I wanted to see what the macro setting would do for me (I'm still experimenting)!
