You know what's funny? (NOT) - When TV and radio stations

lie and say they don't boost the volume of commercials. It's so noticeable.

I'm so F'ing sick and tired of going to another part of the house during a break, and then having to come run get the remote to adjust the audio level every damn time.

I just watched something, and when a DISH satellite spot came on, the booming decibel level about rattled the plaster off of my goddam walls. :argh:

The stations I've spoken with tell me it's an urban myth that the commercials are boosted in an attempt to get our attention. Yea, right.

STOP IT ALREADY!!!

I live in an apt and I have to do the same thing. I'm starting to get remote control thumb. I don't know why they lie about it. When you can hear it clear in the bathroom it has definitely gotten louder.

Really. They say they don't boost the actual volume of commercials, as measured in decibels -- but they do boost something called the "compression ratio", which makes it sound louder even though the decibel volume remains constant.

That's their story, and they're sticking to it.
