Why do you hate Rosie O'Donnell?
That is, if you hate her....

Lots of things made me dislike her....from her chastising Clinton and supporting the impeachment, to automatically assuming she WAS the voice of all Lesbians in the world...

But the thing that really did it was watching her interact with her kids. She browbeats them, will not let them go, and is one of those nosey, overprotective parents. If she wasn't gay, she'd be that fundie neighbor that rats on you to the HOA for violating some small rule in the guide...

1. Her hypocritical view on gun ownership
She stated that no one should be allowed to own a firearm and yet she has armed bodyguards for her and her children. Her reason was that she was a celebrity and subjected to kidnapping attempts.

He thinks she is more "real" since she came out, and praised her work with children adopted by gay and lesbian parents.

5. She does good work - the gay parent cruises and stuff
I admire that...but her attitudes towards parenting are straight out of the Dobson camp.

Just because someone is a liberal, doesn't mean I have to like them.

47. What am I missing? I really see them as helpers and leaders.
If they were guys we would love them. Honestly, they are just very powerfully creative women who have risen with hard work
to celebrity status. Rosie wears her heart on her sleeve which makes her very venerable. I admire them both for trying to improve the lives of so many.

8. I hadn't heard that about her parenting. Do you have any references
for that? Have you seen her "browbeat" her kids? What kind of browbeating does she do?

It's hard for me to jump on the criticism wagon of someone who was brave enough to come out at the risk of hurting her career, and who champions gay parenting rights.

She is a NY Resident who may have witnessed it first hand, had Bush done the right thing after the attacks I might have changed my views of him myself :puke: but to her credit she did go on Air America in 04, admitted that she made a mistake and no longer supports him.

25. I didn't hate Bush at that time, either...
I mean, I didn't vote for him and I thought he was a bit of a boob, but I didn't start DESPISING him until he began using 9/11 as an excuse to push his thirst for war. I can't hate her for that. But I am definitely not a fan. She often makes us lezzies look bad. :-)

Don't really hate her; just don't much care for her.

Every picture I see of her, she has her mouth open. Why does that annoy me? I don't know but it drives me nuts.

I wasn't a fan when she was in the closet and swooning over Tom Cruise. Now that she is out and fearless with her opinions I dig her highly. I used to love her stand-up. I remember a routine where she criticized OJ's defense that was brilliant. Also fearless criticism of Woody Allen and people who kiss his ass.

She's not perfect and in the past made some statements that I disagree with but lately I give her a thumbs-up.

I don't like her show and I don't think she's funny, but she's confident enough to do and say what she wants, and that's cool with BL. Plus, anytime one of us breaks out of the "get a job and husband" mold (you have to grow up in Catholic Queens to understand, maybe), you gotta give her props.

I'm not a Rosie hater, at all, at all...but every once in a while she makes me wince with the stupid remarks, the jokes in very bad taste, (don't get me started) or the giHUGic factually inaccurate statement about something or someone important. That being said, I am deliciously intrigued to see what happens to the View from this point forward.

48. I don't hate her
cause I don't know her personally, hates a strong word. Maybe a repulsed by her is a better word.

I was repulsed by her before she came out of the closet, mostly from the dozen times I saw her talk show, she came off as overbearing, obnoxious, annoying and I find her basically talentless.

Then when she came out, she developed this kind of attitude of if you don't like me it's because "I'm gay" and so you have the problem. In truth a very large percentage of people who can't stand her is based on her talk show before she announced she was gay.

Since that time, her celebrity star has faded greatly since she isn't on TV everyday from having a talk show and she comes off a desperate to get attention by constantly reminding the media and anyone who will listen that she's gay. No one really cares what is in her bed at night and it isn't unique so she needs to quit passing that off as her talent to extended her career.
