Is spending so much time on the internet keeping you from making friends?
http://www.physorg.com/news70294558.html

"The researchers speculated that changes in communities and families, such as the increase in the number of hours that family members spend at work and the influence of Internet communication, may contribute to the decrease in the size of close-knit circles of friends and relatives."

I'm fortunate to have a lot of good friends. But, I get out a lot and spend time with them. I just read a post on another forum from someone who is lonely because she has no friends. But, she also does not go out to find new friends and says she spends a lot of time on the internet.

1. On the contrary

I have made more friends on the internet than I ever could have in person. After a hard day at work, this is where I choose to socialize. I have never been a barfly. My hobbies keep me in the house. My wife and I are not outgoing in our personalities.

It all comes down to how one defines what a friend is. My definition is not isolated to people I interact with on a face to face basis.

5. Nah. I am incapable of making friends
I have hardly any on DU, and I'm even less impressive in person.

I hate going out. Where am I supposed to go? To a bar? I don't drink. To the movies? What a waste of money. To a restaurant? There's too much that I either can't or won't eat and it's quite costly too, usually.
