About 2 months ago, my wife was contacted by a prominent employer in the Pittsburgh area. We live in Connecticut, but she was impressed enough by what the guy told her in the phone interview that we considered relocation.
The phone interview was either on a Thursday or Friday and after it was over, the guy said that my wife should expect a call from HR early the next week to set up a formal interview in Pittsburgh.
It took almost a month for them to finally get back to her... and, things were set up for her to fly out this past Sunday for an interview Monday morning.
Unfortunately, my wife's interview with this company was a disaster. Only one of the three the people were even in Pittsburgh to meet with my wife (as scheduled) this past Monday morning. One was in Boston and one was in Hartford, and then the one person that was in Pittsburgh had to leave after a few minutes. Then, they said the flights were coming in later, so they rescheduled the morning interview to 2pm in the afternoon and changed her flight from 4pm to 10pm. Of course, both people weren't able to make it in to Pittsburgh and they then tried to do a conference call interview with the two people in Hartford & Boston, but then the phone lines either went down or were disconnected and they could not get in touch with either person again. For some reason, even though both people had Blackberrys, they still could not get in touch with them.
So, needless to say, my wife was furious at having wasted Sunday to fly out there & Monday to fly back after having accomplished nothing in regards to the job. We had even contacted a realtor who spent a few hours on Sunday afternoon showing my wife around the area on Sunday afternoon. Before she left on Monday, a person in HR told her that the guy that was stuck in Boston was going to call her on Tuesday to follow-up with her and try to come to this company's office in the Hartford area to meet her. Needless to say, it is now Friday afternoon and my wife has not heard back from them.
And, to think, this company has built like half of the world's nuclear reactors. Yet, it seemed like a total train wreck from this department and with their HR.
