The first time in my life I scratched a DVD
x(

I didn't place it fully in the new DVD player's slot and the edge caught in and there are numerous 1/4" scratches on the edge of the disc.

Probably beyond the part where the data is stored, but it's still a light scratch... x(

1. Quick DVD fix
Wouldn't leave home with Rain-X on my car windows so when a DVD refuse to play I thought "Why not Rain-X it, what have I got to lose?"
It took two coats but the scratches ceased to have any adverse effect.
Good luck.

2. I've also heard you can rub mayonnaise on it....
...a thin layer, than rub it off lightly. I actually tried this with a scratched CD once. It worked!
