Edited on Sun Dec-03-06 08:55 PM by CarolinaPeridot
My background - I am human, enough said. 26 years old. Steady good job. I like music , being goofy, television , movies , cooking , learning languages (Ich spreche Deutsch.) 80's music (Duran Duran) and I am not high maintenance.

Does'nt matter if they are democrat or republican (I can change their minds later). I prefer someone between 25-30 years old. Race does not matter.

And I look like this ... LOL

I can't find a guy to save my life. Everytime one (a guy) realizes they have feelings for me , they run away. It sucks.

Don't mind me I am just bored ;)

Rooted for UNC while I was in high school but I went to NC State LOL.

Right now I go for State because I went there but other than that I don't care. I do hope they (NC State) hire a football coach that will kick ass.

I look a lot younger than I actually am. I guess I got lucky in that part of the genetic lottery. I checked out that myspace.com thing. Your hair was all down in front, looked like Slash formerly of Guns 'n Roses Don't know how to use it, (myspace). In my profile I left out that I am not very computer savvy.

because somethings from ages 6 to 23 sucked. Right now I am at the happiest and most stable time of my life. Since 2004 everything has been pretty much stable. Edited to add : I pretty much hated K-8 grades. High school was cool because I had fun in marching band.

Everyone wanted to literally kick my ass LOL but they did'nt because I was a good player.

Didja ever see that flick (DUH?) I was living in the ATL when it was filmed. A good friend is a partner of the screenwriter. Filmed it all over by Morris Brown, etc. You probably know the spot....I play drums but not in a marching band. Just a kit....and that was a long time ago....it was cool though. Drummers get all the chicks, LOL!

Except for that '80s music thing, I mean. :-(

Well, that and the fact that I'm old enough to be your...um...well...quite-a-bit-older brother, at least.

But that doesn't mean I can't express my belief that the men in the Research Triangle and thereabouts are totally insane for ever running from you. You're beautiful, of course, but your internal qualities quite handily trump externals like outward appearance. If you don't end up with someone from DU, I hope that the man you find makes you feel as lucky as you will him.

Thinking good thoughts for you....

to cook so much. The only time I get to cook is when she's too sick to push me away from the stove.

I do a pretty good original chicken breast poached in reduced white wine with a bit of mustard, lemon juice, rosemary, tarragon, and basil.

And I make a Philly Cheesesteak Hoagie that will snap your arteries shut in ten seconds:

(Almost as good as a real) Philly Cheesesteak Hoagie

1/2 pound or so of very thinly-sliced steak (you can use leftover cooked steak), or frozen Steak-Umm (don’t thaw before cooking)
Provolone cheese, sliced
White onion, sliced as thin as you can slice it
Tomatoes, ditto
Lettuce, sliced thin (not torn)
Hellman’s Mayonnaise (no Miracle Whip, PLEASE)
Italian hot peppers if you like them
1/2 of a large loaf of Italian bread (the crusty type)
Jar of oregano

Slice the Italian bread horizontally (not all the way through), open it flat like a book, and scoop some of the soft part out so you have hollows for the filling. Coat both sides of the inside of the bread with a good thick layer of mayo (or sprinkle with olive oil if you prefer).

Cover the bottom of a heavy cast-iron frying pan with a little olive oil. (If using Steak-Umm, do not use any oil; it will provide its own cooking fat.)

On medium-high heat, cook steak, stirring constantly and chopping vigorously with the end of a spatula until you have a nice fluffy mound of tiny steak bits, about the length and width of your opened bread and an inch deep, with the edges of the steak bits just getting crispy. (Do not, ever, cook sheets of Steak-Umm flat.)

Turn the burner down to low heat and throw half a dozen slices of Provolone over the steak mounds. Cover tightly so the cheese melts completely into the steak (you shouldn’t be able to see an actual layer of cheese after 30 seconds or so, and this is what you want).

Lift the steak/molten cheese stuff out of the pan with the spatula and slide it onto the opened bread. In this order, spread the lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and peppers evenly over top, and sprinkle heavily with oregano.
Best way to get this closed so you can pick it up: push down gently on top of the filling with the blade of a knife (the long way, along the “hinge” of the bread), slide your hand under one side of the bread, and roll the sandwich a quarter-turn.

For authenticity, serve with Gibble’s or Herr’s potato chips and a Tastykake pie.

46. Every single day in tomato season. Even for breakfast sometimes. I have a famous recipe
somewhere on DU (I say famous because people still mention it now and again) for the world's best tomato sandwich.

It's pretty basic, of course. Portuguese bread (not the sweet kind), tomatoes walked in from the garden in the back yard, and homemade garlic aioli.

(Or Hellman's Mayo, and Jane's Krazy Mixed-Up Salt.)

39. I lived in Germany for 3 1/2 years so I had no choice but to learn it.
I went to a local community college to learn the language. It was something I will never forget. Before I took the class I already knew German - the other people in the class only spoke Russian as their mother language. The only only English speaking people was a 15 year old from Australia. Everyone else came from Eastern Europe to German and had lived in Germany for years and finally decided to learn the language. The only common ground/language we had was German. Funny thing on my flight back to the United States I understood the flight instructions that were given in German better than I did the instructions given in English. I could'nt read a newspaper for a while - it made my brain hurt because it was so used to having to translate as I read . I think in a way German helped to stimulate my brain the same way that music does .

about how the German stimulates the brain like music. That will give me somethign to ponder. I have noticed that humor doesn't translate very well between English and Spanish. Especially irony.
What is your favorite music? You mentioned 80's. That was a hodge podge. Good in some ways, a wasteland in other ways. I hated those synthesizers! Check my later post about Germany, I asked you what your instrument was in band....

Other music from 80's that I liked was the early Madonna and Janet Jackson. Michael Jackson when he was black (the Off The Wall album was better musically to my ears than Thriller). And I like 80's R&B music. Especially anything Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis related (the producing duo that made Janet Jackson a star)

I like doing most of the stuff on your list. I'd give my profile, but I wouldn't want to reveal the info in public. PM me to get my profile.

54. My SO asked me why a beautiful 24yo would date
his goofy 40 yo friend. Why wasn't she dating guys her own age?

I told him that even if you're a personable and attractive young woman, guys in their 20s are DAWGS. Many of them are just feeling their oats, and trying to jump on every girl around. They are at their cockiest at that age - they're finally earning some money, THEY are in control now, and they are NOT going to be tied down. So older guys start looking more attractive, because some of them are beyond that running around.

I always found that it was best to meet men through shared activities, although that's easier said than done.

One of the vERy few things that are better about being in your 40s vs in your 20s - not having to deal with 20-yo guys!

64. I look at MTV's The Real World and all the hooking up that goes on.
I feel like I am about 100 years old because when I watch I feel puritanical compared the things they do and they are supposedly in my age group. Sleeping with your roommate on the first episode and just getting drunk and hooking up and forgetting where you are the next morning when you wake up. I live life but not like that.

of course, in the woods maybe the men are kind of like in deliverance or something? LOL

but she is very nice looking and there must be someone looking for her and they just don't know it

76. Failsafe way to identify the One (or Ones):
Make a list of 5 non-negotiable must have qualities. If it says "Lexus", start over--too shallow--go deeper...

My list was Intelligence, Sense of Humor, Married (or widowed-not divorced) parents, Ambitious, and Single (never married).

Make every man you meet (unless he's insane, creepy, etc.) talk. You listen. Find people who fit your list -- DO NOT alter the list for any candidate.

You may find youself interested in a man who doesn't fit the shallow exterior stuff we all look at...my DH had everything on the list but was a bit younger and less financially stable than I'd have probably preferred.

Take your time. You are beautiful -- I suspect you 're absolutely stunning when you smile--and once you've ID'd a Keeper, so you can surely take it from there.

79. Right after I got married, I had an upsurge in interested women
it was weird. Literally, the first day I got back to work after the honeymoon, an extremely attractive woman in the company's little store smiled at me, walked up to me and initiated a conversation with me... even though I had a shiny new wedding band on my finger that I was not hiding or anything. (where was she 2 years earlier!!!)

Granted, that was my first wife. I think I've been too tired since my 2nd marriage started to get more than the occasional smile from another woman.
