A very big THANK YOU to WritingIsMyReligion ....
for steering me to the Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" album.
I love it. What other recommendations for a comparable cd? This album is so very mellow. I would like to venture further down the road of Jazz.

1. I have nothing good to say about jazz, or mellow music
although Richard Marx is playing on my computer right now.

Just wanted to say :hi: since I recently noticed you are part of my growing 'family'. You, me, flying monkeys, ThruTheLookingGlass, and RevolutionaryActs04 :bounce: all have the same DU 'birthdate'. An odd thing to keep track of, but there it is.

2. Hey there ...
Back 'atcha! :hi:

So you don't care for Jazz or mellow music, eh? This cd, "Kind of Blue", is amazing.
Perhaps some day you'll make a shift in your music-listening?

By-the-by - I'm from El Dorado originally. Been here in the Bay Area for eons now.
How are things back in Kansas?

4. things are very bizzare
so bizarre that words are not even being spelled correctly. We just soundly defeated our fundy Attorney General. He was defeated by the DA of Johnson County who 'switched' from the Republican Party to run as a Democrat. When he won, that created a vacancy in his old job, That vacancy was filled by the Johnson County Republicans. Who did they elect by 316 to 277, but the very fundy former AG of Kansas who got 30% of the vote in Johnson County in the recent election. He has exactly zero experience as a DA, and he did not even live in Johnson County until a few days ago. Yet, there is the incompetent SOB actually going to make more money than he did as State AG. Republicans are such a$$holes. :banghead: TANJ!!! Double TANJ (especially with that DA)
But the weather's pretty good, especially if one is ringing bells for the Salvation Army as I did for four hours today.
I am 44 so I am not sure if my tastes will change, but I do have plenty of mellow music in my collection, which my computer seems to remind me of, especially late at night, by selecting them in the shuffle. But typically after 3 mellow songs in a row, I go :argh: and start skipping to something a little livelier.

7. Jeez Louise.
That sounds like my dear ole Kansas. It feels so good to be living in blue No. Cal. now. Hopefully, Kansas will turn a lovely shade of blue someday - when and if the residents really think through what is happening to them by their wonderful Republican representatives.
If you get a chance to ever listen to "Kind of Blue", I'd be interested in your take on it.
:hi:

3. Wish I could help you, but I'm afraid
I'm more a classical kind of guy (if I'm not listening to rock) than a jazz kinda guy.

5. Do you also like baroque?
If so - can you recommend a good cd?

6. I wish I could...
I LIKE classical, but I still don't know as much about it as I should. I just like the sound of strings. Anything with a lot of violin or cello puts me in a really good frame of mind, especially for writing.

8. I'm green with envy.
You have the guts to sit down and actually write. I just dream of doing so (and know that I never will).

My current read is "Reading Like a Writer" by Francine Prose. Good stuff.

9. You can actually start any time...
I've been writing since I was in 4th Grade. It's not so much about having the guts to write...it's not being able to NOT write.

I'm one of those seat-of-the-pants writers. I start with an idea, sit down, and start typing. I don't outline or plan much out...it evolves as I write.
