Telemarketer finishes off week from hell!! (Rant and language warning!)
Ok, it has been a LONG week already. Today, however a telemaketer pushed me over the edge. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it is a true sight.

Mon Am found me driving Kevsand to the Family Practice Doc. He had such a bad sore throat he couldn't swallow any more. Doc takes one look in his throat and says, "Uh-uh, Nope. I am NOT touching this. I am NOT qualified. Get thee to an ENT, pronto, this is considered life threatening." So we drove across town and held hands worrying.

Mon lunchtime found me sitting with a most unhappy Kevsand in a freaking waiting room at the ENT specialists' office. We waited for about forty minutes to see an ENT for this "life threatening" situation. Finally, after watching him suffer in silence for what seemed like an eternity, I go up to the desk and ask politely when they plan to take him in, since he's in so much pain. Twenty minutes later we get ushered into see the ENT.

I will skip the details on the next part of the day but it involves things like abscesses and needles and scalpels and a really awful smell... I was gagging in sympathy from across the room. With much relief, a load of heavy duty painkillers and antibiotics, we leave the clinic to go home. Kevsand is feeling better.

By six pm I am on the phone with the "Patient Advisory Nurse" that our insurance company demands we call instead of a real Doctor. The reason I am on the phone is that hubby is in the bathroom throwing up thru a throat that has been lanced, punctured, sliced and drained just a few hours before. The ever helpful nurse advises us to just keep on doing what we are doing and call back if it gets any worse...

Hubby and I spent all night looking at each other because we are afraid to sleep... Finally at about 4 am I fall asleep sitting in a chair and then startle awake to check if hubby is still alive. He is, but he has finally passed out and has drained "stuff" all over the bed and himself.

This is how we've pretty much spent the week except for last night when we finally got a decent amount of sleep--about 6 hours or so.

Today, a telemarketer calls when my husband is sleeping and he asks to speak to kevsand. I tell him that kevsand is not coming to the phone and then just hang up the phone. The guy calls me back! He not only calls me back but then he says that I "rudely" hung up on him that he'd like me to take a message!! I said "Excuse me, what did you just say? Did I just hear you calling me on my phone and calling me RUDE?" He sits there and thinks for a second and says, "Well, you WERE rude, you know..."

I blew a gasket. I'm tired, my husband was seriously ill early this week and now I have some telemarketer calling me back to insult me. I stood there clutching that phone, wishing it was that guy's neck and I say,

"Rude would have been if I'd said FUCK YOU AND NEVER CALL HERE AGAIN. My fucking husband CAN'T come to the phone, he had fucking surgery on his throat earlier this week and he can barely walk, let alone come and talk to you. Never call my house again and if you do, so help me God, I will climb thru that phone line and rip out your fucking throat." Then I hung up on him again.

Hubby quietly said he thinks I have PMS.

1. LOL
after the week you've had??

Not PMS...justifiable anger.

I'd have done the same thing...even without the rough week if a telemarketer had called me BACK, and to tell me I was rude!

Hang in there...life gets better.

2. A great line from Gavin DeBecker,
"People who won't take "No" for an answer are trying to manipulate you."

You did just fine by hanging up on him. He should have gotten the message.

5. Hubby was fine until I clobbered him.
Nah, not really. I thought about it, and decided he's had enough misery this week.

He did, however, hurt his throat laughing at me. Somehow I found it difficult to feel too sympatheic...:grr:

I probably wouldn't have ben so annoyed at waiting except our regular Doc had stressed that this was serious and that it can kill you. The way he explained it, you can be suffocatd by the swelling or it can burst and that can kill you. Either way it scared heck outta us.

Plus, Kevsand had taken a huge load of Advil to make the trip into the Dr's office and it wore off while we were sitting there waiting to see the ENT. He was a hurting cowboy and it was killing me to watch him hurt with no help.

About the only thing that could have added to the whole thing would have been if the in-laws had been there... :)

I'm glad it is behind him, and he's on the mend.
