Has anyone ever actually eaten Cream of Mushroom soup?
I ask because it is in all kinds of recipes....Well actually that's not why I ask. Last week I was hungry so I heated up a can of Golden Mushroom soup the next day it turns out that it would have been real handy in the gravy my wife was going to make for me. Whooops!

So has anyone ever anywhere ever eaten Cream of Mushroom soup all by itself?

8. In Portland, there's a restaurant called Old Wives' Tales, which
makes Hungarian Cream of Mushroom soup that is to die for.

No other cream of mushroom soup even comes close.

10. all the time.......
Funny story -

When we were in Taiwan, the hotel we stayed at had the BEST Mushroom soup.

One night - when we were all recovering from the stomach bug that had been going around, my son called down for room service. He ordered "plain spaghetti noodles" and the Mushroom soup.

When it arrived, they had poured the soup OVER the spaghetti!! It looked really weird, but turned out to taste pretty good!

I prefer a homemade cream of mushroom but the canned will do in a pinch. I also eat the cream of celery by itself.

19. I think I have. Try this....
Layer thin sliced potatoes, onions, raw hamburger, condensed C of M soup and salt and pepper in a covered casserole dish. Put in preheated oven, at what, 350 or so? Bake until potatoes are done.

That's some man food there, baby. So good you wanna die.

20. Yes. I've made it from scratch before.
It's a rather labor-intensive recipe, and it takes one hell of a lot of mushrooms, but it's worth it! :9

eaten straight from the can. It *must* be Campbell's though. Generic is gross.

22. Of course!! It's also good as a "gravy"
Sometimes I fry up pork chops and when they are nearly done, put in a can of cream of mushroom soup with a little bit of water.

makes a good gravy. :)

29. My mother did something like this
Browned the pork chops, put them in an electric frying pan with onions, rice, cream of mushroom soup, and enough water to cook the rice. YUMMY, and it brings back memories of when I was a kid - I'll need to make some soon.

34. Absolutely. My mom considered it a all-purpose food.
Need gravy? cream of mushroom soup.
Need soup? cream of mushroom soup.
Making meatloaf? add cream of mushroom soup.
Need a cheap meal? cream of mushroom soup over rice.

:)

Golden Mushroom Soup is particularly good with chicken and rice. Brown the chicken until the skin is crispy. Then add the cream of mushroom soup and maybe potatoes. Simmer for a few minutes. Serve over rice. :)
