Poll question: Who here can pinch an inch?
I'm trying to determine if DU needs to go on a diet.

3. If it's less than an inch, then you're within an acceptable weight range for your
age. At least, for the purpose of this poll. :-)

2. Diet, or exercise?
A diet to control fats and calories is one thing, but the core metabolism may need to be addressed as well.

6. Obviously for us news junkies who spend too much time behind
the keyboard, exercise is definitely a factor of consequence. :-)

13. I can't pinch an inch
and am 63 years old. Both of my grandmothers were very small. Although I'm taller, I have apparently inherited whatever genes predispose us to stay on the slender side. Since I already have osteoporosis, and have fallen several times in the past few months, my doctors advise me not to lose weight. For some of us, having a bit of padding isn't about vanity, it's to protect our bones if we fall.

15. I hear ya!
Also, a few generations ago it was desirable to be slightly overweight so you could survive a debilitating illness.

17. Exactly, Backlash Cometh
At my age, I am not out there competing for men. I was married to my first husband for almost 20 years, and have been married to my current, and last husband going on 21 years. While I sometimes get compliments regarding my appearance, I am only interested in those of my husband.

How I look physically does not enter in to my relationship with my children, or grandchildren. My only concern is for our health. As far as my children, grandchildren, and even two great=grandchildren are concerned, our relationship is based on the love we feel for each other, not from any external causes.

I find that at this stage of my life, the only things which truly matter are love of family, and of humankind. Given the choice between being the undisputed strongest country on earth, and being able to impose our will upon others, or acting with a framework of nations who all agree that freedom is the desirable state of affairs, is a given for me. We can chose democracy, true, but the choice must be universal in every country which is powerful enough to inflict it's will on others.

As long as countries can make their own choices, I'll be happy.

14. I eat like a European, at 36 I weigh the same as I did when I was 18
Half of that is probably genetics though. I actually get teased for being so thin. :)
