Since when did naturally curly hair become a bad thing?

Then that curly hair must be shorn off to hide the original hair colour.

Both my parents had wavy hair.

I lost a girlfriend. She quit speaking to me (I'm female) because I had wavy hair that would fall in ringlets when I wash it and sleep on it wet. I wake up with curly bedhead.

Her hair was long, straight and down to her ass and baby fine.

I did not know that thick wavy hair was a deal-breaker in a friendship.

I have the same kind of hair. It always looks best when I wash it, sleep on it damp, and wake up with a headful of shiny ringlet curls. And mine is looooong, and naturally auburn. My hair and my eyes (very green) are my only vanities. :)

My hair was platinum blond when I was little and when I grew up it turned into that "ash blonde" or "dirty Blonde" or "Dishwater blonde" as we say in the South, that makes everyone look blah and dead. It has gray in it too, now. Aaack!!

Besides, because I am very fair, my eyebrows are pale (like a dark beige) and my eyes are green-brown-gold (that's called hazel) I have always thought of myself as a blonde, not a brunette.

So I bleach it to a fairly light blonde (level 8) and try not to dry it out too much with too much bleaching. Those thick gloppy conditioners that you leave on for a few minutes are good to use.
The blonde color makes me look alive instead of mousy. I like strawberry blonde too but my BF doesn't like the red.

Gee, I'm glad somebody else wakes up with curly bedhead. It's really strange when it looks like a giant tidal wave on your head!!!

When I was little my mom gave me gawdawful ammonia laced perms because she wanted me to look like Shirley Temple. When I was in college I got a decent haircut for the first time and found out what my real hair was like.

How embarrassing it was to discover that I have really nice hair after having spent thousands of bucks getting salon perms for 20 years. :blush: Now, if I want straight hair, I just blow dry it with a big round brush. And if I want curly hair, I just wash it and let it go. :D

Everybody was wearing their hair long and straight, parted down the middle. That was THE hairstyle and the longer and straighter, the better. I grew my hair long, but it didn't show because it just kept curling under at the ends. I got it straightened, I ironed it and I set it with tin cans; by noon every day, it was curly again. Finally, I got so frustrated (and tired), I just cut it short. I found myself with loose, frizz-free curls all over my head. It was cute. All I had to do all those years was be myself. My advice to anyone with curly hair is--don't fight it.

Straight and thin.

I have pin-straight hair and always wanted curly hair.

I have curly hair and was mocked for it on a daily basis throughout.

"Here come the fuzz" "what did you do? Stick your finger in a light socket?" Then it got racial.... "white nigger" "jungle bunny" "spearchucker", etc....

Every-fucking-day.

it got to be a bad thing about the time the afro became popular.

in the 70's I had to have Farrah hair...so at 5 a.m. I would get up, wash hair, roll hair in big rollers, sit under hood dryer for 1 hour, take out rollers, use curling iron to straighten and put hair into farrah do, I would be done in about 2 1/2 hours.

I just cut my long curly ringlet hair into a short shoulder 70's style again. Once again, I get up, wash hair, roll hair, use a flat iron and curling iron, but it only takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to do it.

I wore my hair in loose ringlets for years when it was long. It's a pain, I don't DARE wash and go to bed with wet hair, I would look like Don King when I woke up....or like this guy:
