1. It's kind of a bizarre ritual if you ask me
Not that I hate it or anything, but what the hell is up with that? You stick your lips together for a bit and then let out a "smack". Sometimes you lick each other's tongues for a while.

Are we born with this concept? How did it start? And why do we still do it?

...if you break them down and take an objective look at them. Like, say, an extra-terrestrial would. I mean...look at dancing. For that matter, look at sex.

But damn...

It's nature, though. It's the built-in wiring so why fight it?

As a method for Roman men to determine whether or not their wives had been drinking while they were out.

However, I've also heard that it's an attempt to simulate affectionate grooming seen amongst other animals.

Odder still, I've heard that story several times from "people who would know" ie well-educated historians, trivia junkies, etc.

However, I just did a quick Google search to find some sourcing and didn't really see much on a cursory glance.
