*VIDEO* of Seattle's 520 floating bridge in last night's storm:
Edited on Fri Dec-15-06 04:11 PM by SeattleGirl
Some people wanted to know if there was video of the waves hitting the 520 floating bridge here in Seattle during the storm last night. I just found some. Under "Featured Video", it's titled "Raw video: Winds whip 520 bridge"

2. I've gone across that bridge when the winds were whipping the
waves up over the roadway, but not as badly as shown in that video.

4. I've only been on it a few times.
Was scary to me even in nice weather. I can't imagine being on it in bad weather. :scared:

At end of video, the 520 bridge looks like it was completely washed out in a section...gone!

5. Actually, that's a section of the bridge that they can open
so that the water can flow through and not cause too much damage to the bridge. Although, when they did that, three of the hooks that hold the pontoons of the two bridges together came off, so they have to fix that.

But at least it didn't sink, like the I-90 floating bridge did in the '90s. Whole damn thing sank into Lake Washington. (520 and I-90 floating bridges both go across Lake Washington.)

8. Some are more okay than others.
We only lost power for a short while. My daughter never lost power at all. Her fiance's MIL lost power it it probably will be 5 days or more before they get it back.

And, there have been tons of downed trees, some on houses, some on cars. One poor soul died when a tree fell on his car.

9. Just trying to get home.
Either that, or they invented cars that convert into boats, and wanted to try them out.
