Woo Hoo!!!! I don't need glasses!!!
My eyes have been bothering me lately, and I wasn't seeing distances as well as I have in the past.

As it turns out, they're just excessively dry and fatigued- my vision is still 20/20.

:woohoo:

1. you lucky person,......

I started reading signs when I was 3 and books when I was four, according to Mom.
I started first grade at five because I was obviously bright and they weren't sure what to do with me.

Mom wondered why I always had my nose in a book, and she took me to the eye doctor when I was seven (third grade) and found out why!! I was nearsighted as hell!! It's gotten worse as I've gotten older.

My GOOD eye is a minus 7.5 diopters which is about a focal length of 6 inches. I found out from an optician that a diopter is a meter, and if you are nearsighted, it's a minus, which is a reciprocal. So to find my focal length I would take 39.37 inches and divide by 7.5.

I've worn glasses since age seven and should have had them sooner. I can see better in contacts and just don't like to mess with them any more. Now I'm in bifocals. I thought nearsighted people didn't wear bifocals. My folks just wore reading glasses and had perfect vision otherwise.

People who never have to wear glasses, or at least not till they need bifocals are pretty damn lucky. However, I feel lucky to have stereo vision and full color, because there are a lot of blind people or nearly blind people out there.

Our society discriminates against people who wear glasses, like we're unattractive or something.
:banghead:

3. I guess I have Dad to thank....
He's 74 and only needs his glasses to read. Mom and Sis, on the other hand, are not so lucky.

I wasn't so worried about having to wear them- I'm not vain like that. Mostly, I was not liking the idea of having to keep up with them, since I tend to lose sunglasses, watches, and other small items.
