Is she just a good looking woman hawking sub-average food on a cable food channel and it's her looks that sells any of it?

(If so, how come people buy Emeril(tm) overrated garbage?)

1. Rachel Ray is the Martha Stewart for people who don't respond well to cooking hosts that...

have an Ironing board up their asses.

She basically does the same kind of thing as MS, but with a nod and a wink towards ease and not being so serious that it's hard to keep a straight face.

2. Her food (at least her recipes)
are mighty good.

My sister has made a lot of her stuff.

They're quick and affordable items. Good stuff.

I love her. She's so cute and cool. A bit cheesy and annoying at times but I think she is just so much fun.

I think it's a combo of things as to why she's popular.

Personalty, looks, the quick and affordable dishes...

3. EVOO
EVOO is a good place to start -- every fucking time she says EVOO she explains what it is so why the fuck abbreviate it if you are going explain it ever single time? Then there's the moaning while she eats, the fake cutesy bit, the "sammies" and "yummy!"'s And to even make her even more loathe-worthy, she's everywhere now. Dog help us all.

12. Seriously?
God she's been doing that for years. I wonder if someone told her that it was annoying.

4. it's partly her voice...
..that drives people nuts. Partly her over-used expressions and gestures. Yum-O! I long for Sara Moulton about two minutes into a Rachel Ray show.

11. Especially gay ones, apparently
:eyes:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200612150001

On the December 13 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly dismissed scientific research on same-sex parenting to assert that "ature dictates that a dad and a mom is the optimum" form of child-rearing. O'Reilly asked "why," if children suffer no psychosocial deficit from being raised by same-sex parents, "wouldn't nature then make it that anybody could get pregnant by eating a cupcake?" O'Reilly declared that by arguing in favor of same-sex couples' right to raise children, "you're taking Mother Nature and you're throwing it right out the window, and I just think it's crazy." In fact, as Media Matters for America has repeatedly noted (here, here, here, and here), studies have consistently found that children raised by gay or lesbian parents suffer no adverse effects in their psychosocial development.

Hmmm... someone must have spiked the falafel... :smoke:

9. Her geography sucks
From her $40-a-day special in New Orleans (taped pre-K): RR gets off a streetcar to explore "the fabulous archtecture along St. Charles Street".

Avenue, Rach. St. Charles Avenue. :dunce: Would she go to NYC and gawk at the fabulous architecture along "Park Street"?

14. In another life, I'd be married to her.
Except the recipe-one-upsmanship would get old after a while.
