Some asshole keeps calling us and not talking.
One day he called while we were out and filled up my message box to the limit...a full 30 minutes of nothing. Sometimes he calls in the afternoon, and other times he calls at 3am. This morning he called at 7:30am, and then a few minutes later.

I called Verizon; and they tried to sell me a "call-blocking" service. This pisses me off, because the guy is harassing us...It's freaking illegal; but they want to charge us for the "service". I called the police, and they said they could send someone over; but that the best option was to pay for the blocking. :grr:

1. Buy a police whistle or an air horn.
:-)

3. That's what Mr GoG said; but it would be too easy
for this guy to find out where we live. I don't know what kind of nut-case we're dealing with here. For all I know, it's the same guy who ripped my car antenna off or robbed Mr GoG at gunpoint last year.

6. Goddess, how would it be easy for him to find out where you live?
I do like the idea of an airhorn. Blast the creep's eardrum out.

I sometimes get calls where no one is speaking on the other end; however, it's nothing like what you're describing. Sheesh. Hope it stops soon.

10. Our phone number's published...
and you can type in any published number on sites like ultimatewhitepages.com and find out where they live.

I'd go with an unpublished number; but then I'd lose gigs.

2. Sorry you have to deal with the asshole. :(
When I lived in Maryland, I gladly paid for the Call Intercept service because I was getting so many No Name/No Number calls. I wish I had some advice.

7. I'll probably use the service, since there are no other options.
I'd love to make a bunch of calls to him in the middle of the night, though. Or use it in "for a good time, call this number" graffiti.

8. can't you do the
*69? That's supposed to call the person right back. I think it's only a 50c charge, but worth it. You can then tell him/her that you are calling back to tell them that the police are monitoring the call. If he/she continues to call and harrass you, he/she will be arrested. It's worth a shot.

11. That's how I found out his number...
We don't have caller ID.

Apparently he's calling from a cellphone, because we can't call him back using the service. I did call the number today, from a different phone, to see if I recognized the voice, but I didn't; and I didn't say anything, I just hung up when he answered. I'm a little concerned about interacting with him at all, because that's probably how he gets his jollies.

9. Excuse the obvious....
But did you google the phone number? If you're lucky enough to get a hit you could go instigate a smackdown.

I got the same response from Verizon about unwanted text messages... they said they could (for a price) block ALL messages, but not ones from a specific number. Even though the freaking messages were costing me. I was super pissed about that.

12. It's apparently a cell phone.
But for $15 I can find out who it is. I'm tempted to do this...
