I think I can safely assume that the cat would try to eat it if we got one. Am I right? If so, this gives me a good excuse not to invite a rodent into my house.
But you have to keep the cage clean or it gets a little smelly. Just don't use cedar chips, as the fumes from the cedar are very bad for their respiratory systems.
I think it's better to have two, so they don't get lonely. :-) They're really very sweet.
