I don't know what the Markets are like in reality, but it looks like a place where people are fairly relaxed. Malls aren't like that. Harried people fighting for parking spaces, and for salespeople...many there aren't in a good mood at all.

Plus, they play lousy Christmas music. I would love to hear a band play instead! :bounce:

Saturday afternoon and evening. It is so full with people, moving is hard. Also to find a rather quiet place to sip on your Glühwein. But it is fun and to pass the booths with all the crafts and kitsch and food and stuff is fun.

and I mostly saw the Christmas Market. But I plan on visiting 48percenter again and then I can see more of Munich and less people :D

I guess we yanks call it Munich because we never could figure out how to say "Me-une-chin" right...hell I can't even get it right phonetically, good thing y'all let us call it Meun-ick.

I met a celebrity at the Munich Oktoberfest back in...well a long time ago. Her name is Carrol Burnett and boy was she hammered. (I might already told you that story so I'll leave it at that)

Your photos make me pine away for Germany, I especially like your photo where you used the flash on the merry-go-round...great composition there Miss H. I see you also did one where the lights were in motion with a slow shutter speed...that one is cool too. I have a few where I set the camera on a tripod and did exposures of 10 seconds, (or more), of Ferris wheels. Those can get you some amazing patterns especially if framed with cool stationary backgrounds.

I took the pics all without a tripod. Even the night pics. But I got me a tripod this week. Gonna play around with it next week :D

I showed these pics a friend of mine as we want to go scating this winter ourselves. But when I told her the use of those skining bears and that I would get her one she killed me with the look she gave me :rofl:

Well as you know, I have relatives there. Munich, Schwabish Hall, Balingen (they passed on since), Stuttgart (also died), Tubingen, St. Georgen, Pfaffenhofen (though he may have moved), and Straubing. They are all over the place. LoL. Both my Nana and Grandpa came from Germany, so most of my extended family from that side (my mom's side) are still there. I hope to go back and visit someday.



This is where my Nana grew up (Schwabish Hall) the big white house on the right. My cousin and his wife still live there, and that's where I stayed for several days. My favorite place.

that looks beautiful. I admit I've never been to Schwäbisch Hall, and last weekend was the first time I was in Munich.
And there is a café right across that house. Now how cool is that???

Make sure, whenever you come back to find some time to meet with me :)

To see where their family comes from. Unfortunately, I never learned the language (though I tried!). Schwabish Hall would be ok, since my cousin and his wife speak perfect English. Maybe someday.....*sigh*

I was just there over the weekend. Visited the DUer 48percenter who lives near Munich. I will be back to visit her again though soon. I hope ....

and I just saw it mentioned upthread. What did they call the markets: Kriskindlemarkt or some such? I was actually living in a small town called Bad Aibling not far from Munich and they had their own Christmas markets. There was so much snow when I was there...being a Carolina girl who lives in FL, that was a nice white Christmas for me.
