I'm not sure what I did to deserve what happened tonght

but I won't question it.

A year ago this time, I was destitute - and was that way much of the year. I play in an instrumental group at a traditional United Methodist Church. It's been the only musical outlet I have now. My stand partner is a joy. She's funny, caring, rotten and one of those people who aren't "in your life" all the time. But, she's always there.

Last year, she gave me the two grocery gift cards she and her husband get every holiday season from the hospital where they both work. I was so grateful then. I could buy food for Christmas dinner.

Tonight, she handed me a card. After rehearsal, I opened it. She had given me both the $50 gift cards again. I told her I didn't need them. She said that's not the point. She wanted to do it. *They* wanted to do it.

I'm so lucky. I'm so humbled. I can't wait til I'm in the position to do this for someone else.

You will be able to return the favor and much more very soon. I just know it.

The kindness and generosity of friends and strangers can be both moving and inspiring. I know I've experienced it in my life and it has moved me and touched me in ways that have truly affected my life.

I know that some day you'll be in a position to do it to someone else and I know that things will get better for you. You've had an awful year -like me -and you deserve much, much better and I'm sure good things will come to you and that you will have a lot to look forward to. And your desire to be in a position to help others speaks volumes as to your generosity, compassion and the integrity of your character.
