Vikings officially choke for the 46th stright year...
The worst record of futility in Minnesota professional sports history I believe!!!

I have been a Vikings fan since I was 7 years old...and I can safely say, without any reservation, that no matter how long I live...the Vikings will NEVER, EVER win the Super Bowl!!!

2. I'm right there with you
The thing is they keep coming up with new and more creative ways to dash my hopes. I had very low expectations for them this year but then the "experts" kept saying they had a real shot at the Super Bowl and they won a couple of games and yup, you guessed it ... they sucked me in, I actually thought they would be better this year.

I'm not falling for it next year, thank you for reinforcing the idea that they will in fact never win a Super Bowl in my lifetime.

3. Sorry...
I am pretty cynical having sat through 4 Super Bowl chokes...

The first one in 1969, sitting in front of our little black and white TV, in my Gary Cuozzo replica Vikings uniform...

It has been downhill from there!!!!!

4. That explains why you're taking it more in stride than me
... I missed 1969, I don't think I could sit still long enough to watch a football game back then but I cried after each of the other 3 losses and 1998 was almost worse than the Super Bowl losses.

I just can't even think about it anymore.

11. there was this really funny article the year Minnesota went 15-1
it said how the entire state of Minnesota had suffered whiplash from falling off of a bandwagon, and the victims were recuperating at the Fran Tarkenton memorial hospital.

Sorry, I grew up in Viking country, and although I do not hate the Vikings any more (I totally loved the Cunningham offense, but when the media kept talking about Denver I kept saying "You have to beat Atlanta first. They are 14-2. You have to beat Atlanta.") it's still kinda fun to pick on Viking fans a little. Especially when they lose to my Packers! :woohoo:

But better luck next year! (except against the Packers)

15. I've been accused before of being a bandwagon fan
because I pick teams that are far away from where I live. I'm in upstate New York but I've been a Vikings fan since I was 11, I'm also a Phoenix Suns fan and was accused of jumping on the bandwagon the year Barkley joined the team and they made it to the Finals.

I suffer through 20 years or more of futility before getting a small bone thrown my way by a run in the playoffs and I'm always accused of being a front runner.

BTW, I also voted for Hillary twice. ;)

16. that sounds like a bandwagon fan
you latched onto the purple people eaters instead of the hapless Bills. Shame on you :spank: :spank:

Well, thank goodness you didn't become a Cowboy's fan.

I probably woulda dumped my team if they got Charge Barkley. But why wouldn't you root for the Knickerbockers??!

Tell me you are at least a Syracuse fan!! Or do you just pull for SUNY?

I hope you at least voted against Hillary in the primary. I got so ticked off by her first run that I tried to run against her. At least, unlike her, I am a New Yorker.

30. I think that purple may be the key
What can I say, I was young and purple was my favorite color, I learned to appreciate Carl Eller and Allan Page as time went by. The Suns also used to wear purple and orange so I'm a little ashamed to admit it but that's probably why I rooted for them and I also learned to love Sir Charles. Since I had been a Suns fan for many, many years by then dumping my team was not an option.

Not a Syracuse fan at all here. I went to Hofstra so I think there is some kind of rule against rooting for the Orangemen.

Lifetime New Yorker here too but I like Hillary, then again maybe I don't like her but I still can't complete a rational thought after thinking of the Knicks. :puke:

8. Probably...
And they will probably drive me to an early grave, but I can't stop hoping. Childress needs to go (idiot, punting on 4th and 1 way too many times, 3rd and 15 and call a 1 yard pass), they need an o-line worth the money they pay for it, and a secondary that can make interceptions when the front 4 stop the run (which they are very good at). Not to mention, put some pressure on the quarterback. The team this year has a ton of talent, they just haven't played like it. The blame falls on Childress' shoulders. Get someone who knows what to do with all that talent.

13. Why does Childress cover his mouth when he calls plays?
It is always the same thing off-tackle left, off-tackle right, pass 3 yards short of the 1st down, punt. Where is this offensive "genius" that I keep hearing about?

Oh yeah and this: GO PACK GO!!!

14. I do not think it is fair to say that the Vikings always choked
They did goto a number of Superbowls after all. What I remember from my childhood is the 9-5 Vikings playing the 12-2 Rams and winning most of the time. They may have also beaten the heavily favored Cowboys just to get to the Superbowl. So I do not think it is fair to say that they always choked.

What boggles my mind is why they did so poorly against the Giants that year. I had heard that the Giants secondary was weak, so I expected Carter and Moss to chew them up. Instead they got shut down, but then in the Superbowl the unimpressive Raven offense chewed them up. So why couldn't the Vikings? Was it a stolen playbook, eavesdropping on the plays being called? Or what?

20. The day came when I became glad that the Vikes got beat by the Cowboys
The day came when I became glad that the Vikes got beat by the Cowboys
when Drew Pearson pushed off on Nate Wright and got the touchdown pass
from Staubach in the NFC championship game.

In my youth that loss was a scar on my soul.

Now,all these years later, I'm glad the Vikes did lose and didn't go on to face the Steelers and lose--again.

That would have been, after the humiliation delivered by the Raiders, four SB losses in a row with five total losses. Yech.

I'm almost to the point that I'm glad Anderson missed that kick in the NFC championship gave vs. Atlanta.

Thank god for the Buffalo Bills!

Thank god for the Twins!

21. "Thank God for the Twins"
Amen to that...

Boggles my mind that Minneapolis is still considered a Football town...

I would think folks would want to get behind a winner!! Not that Minneapolis isn't a good baseball town, but with their success you'd think it would eventually supersede football...

The Vikings made only three first downs in the entire game. That may be a NFL record.
