Police have arrested a 21-year-old Mesa woman who was selling sex on craigslist.org and has admitted to taking in $1,400 for sex acts during the last two weeks, according to court records.
Renee Marie Kachinski was arrested late Tuesday night after authorities received a tip from a manager at Homestead Studio Suites Hotel, 1920 W. Isabella Ave. Police had been conducting surveillance for several days at the location.
Mesa police spokesman Sgt. Chuck Trapani said police routinely check newspapers and Web sites such as craigslist for escort services in an attempt to crack down on prostitution.
Prostitutes aren’t only on street corners now, Trapani said. They’re advertising in print and on the Internet.
A visit of craigslist.org — a popular Web site for buying, selling and corresponding — shows under the “erotic” services section multiple advertisements for women available in Mesa. Solicitations fall under such headings as “Treat Yourself to Something Special (Like Me),” “Pure Sweet Blonde Pleasure,” and “100% Blonde 100% Classy & 100% Worth Your Time.”
The hotel manager had been looking on craigslist and connected photos of a woman posing as a hotel guest to Kachinski, court records show. The manager told police she was staying in a room at the Homestead Studio, records show.
The advertisement included prices listed in kisses — each one equal to a dollar.
On Tuesday afternoon, an officer watched Fermin David Lopez, 25, of Phoenix park at the hotel and be directed inside by Kachinski, the documents said. Lopez entered the room and left 10 minutes later.
Lopez then drove away, but was stopped by the officer for having illegally tinted windows and making a wide turn.
