So has that "Christmas feeling" hit you yet?
It finally did tonight, when wrapping the last few gifts, and we had the old Ray Conniff singers Christmas album on, the one we bought 40 years ago and we still put it on this year. I guess it was hearing those same recordings I heard in my childhood, brought back memories of happy Christmases of my youth.

1. I think so...
I'm feeling all warm and generous and kindly.

I was whistling bits of Carol Of The Bells today.

close enough for me.

I wish a Happy Christmas for you and everyone you love. :loveya:

:hi:

2. Not at all
And it probably won't.

It's hard to escape the Christmas music playing about the place, and the cocktail waitresses in their little short Santa Claus outfits (the sight of which does, admittedly, make me Merry), but otherwise I don't really have a lot of evidence that Christmastime is here. I've got some (low fat) egg nog in the fridge, though, so I suppose that counts for something.

I'll probably be alone on Christmas Day and maybe I'll just take off and go for a walk in the desert (in the non-Jesus way, of course) for a while, or something. I might even work part of the day, but I'm not yet sure. Eating too much could also be an option, depending on what's open. Oo...just remembered that I should check out the Christmas plant display in the conservatory at Bellagio (if you come to Vegas, at any time of year, their ever-changing displays are definitely worth a look). In other words, I might have a date with myself. Just when I was beginning to think I'd never go on a date. :D

Whatever I do, it's hard to feel too much like this is an especially blue Christmas because I've had some pretty suboptimal ones before now and right now I'm feeling pretty okay about a lot of things in my life. This year, it's looking to be pretty much just Another Day (doo doo doo-doo-doo-doo, to borrow from Sir Paul), and that is not so bad. The weather report even predicts it being a nice day, relatively warm for this time of year.

Christmas lost its lustre for me, anyway, at least in recent years and currently, so I'll be happy just to have a good day.

Besides, you've got to be careful here in Vegas, at Christmastime: running around saying "ho ho ho" can get you in trouble.

3. every day is a good day
who could be sad with Sir Paul lyrics rolling around in the old noggin? btw - it's not "doo doo doo-doo-doo-doo", it's "Du Du Du Du Du"

PAUL MCCARTNEY lyrics - "Another Day"

Every Day She Takes A Morning Bath She Wets Her Hair,
Wraps A Towel Around Her
As She's Heading For The Bedroom Chair,
It's Just Another Day.
Slipping Into Stockings,
Stepping Into Shoes,
Dipping In The Pocket Of Her Raincoat.
Ah, It's Just Another Day.

At The Office Where The Papers Grow She Takes A Break,
Drinks Another Coffee
And She Finds It Hard To Stay Awake,
It's Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It's Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It's Just Another Day.

Ay
So Sad, So Sad,
Sometimes She Feels So Sad.
Alone In Her Apartment She'd Dwell,
Till The Man Of Her Dreams Comes To Break The Spell.

Ah, Stay, Don't Stand Around
And He Comes And He Stays
But He Leaves The Next Day,
So Sad.
Sometimes She Feels So Sad.

As She Posts Another Letter To The Sound Of Five,
People Gather 'Round Her
And She Finds It Hard To Stay Alive,

It's Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It's Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It's Just Another Day.

Ay
So Sad, So Sad,
Sometimes She Feels So Sad.
Alone In Her Apartment She'd Dwell,
Till The Man Of Her Dreams Comes To Break The Spell.

Ah, Stay, Don't Stand Around
And He Comes And He Stays
But He Leaves The Next Day,
So Sad.
Sometimes She Feels So Sad.

Every Day She Takes A Morning Bath She Wets Her Hair,
Wraps A Towel Around Her
As She's Heading For The Bedroom Chair,
It's Just Another Day.

Slipping Into Stockings,
Stepping Into Shoes,
Dipping In The Pockets Of Her Raincoat.

Ah, It's Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It's Just Another Day. Du Du Du Du Du
It's Just Another Day.

6. You DU'd the song!
I guess it's better than my "doo-doo" version...

A DU day's better than a doo-doo day.

:D

Thanks! :hi:

5. I'm feeling kinda pre-spirit Scroogy, meself...
...but then this year has been dedicated to dealing with losses, betrayal (that's what it felt like) and serious depression and thoughts that keep squirrel-caging around in my head.

Last year was so different, and I'm remembering that.

And...I'm very meanly hoping that someone else realizes that not only is his Internet Fantasy Fiancee (whom he has never met) is not going to show up, he's lost something REAL...
and that it was by his own actions and choice.

I think Scrooge got a bad rap...needed a better publicist.
Bah. Humbug. x(

Once Monday arrives, however, it'll be 6-7 hours in a car and then a few days in this lovely town:

8. you still have a turntable?
I have so many LPs but no turntable. I've been wanting to find one of those "furniture" stereos with the beautiful cabinet that were so popular in the 1960s. Where did they all go? I never even find them at estate sales.
