5. Usually don't get more than 1 or sometimes 2
no big deal though, I just enjoy being with my family. I usually get something from my daughter that she's made for me, which I would NEVER give away, and a grocery store gift card or smokes, so I always am really happy with what I do get.

2. Oooh!
One of my choices was cut off!

That should have read "Not only do I re-gift, but I've accidently re-gifted to the "gift giver" before!

7. Due to financial situation I did it this year.
Took the Home Depot gift card I was given from my contractor and gave it away to someone else. Saved me 50 bucks that I used instead on my kids, the spoiled brats. Heh.

9. We get stuff at our office
that we're never going to eat. Not cause it's bad, but because it's good - chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, fruitcake - and we have to give it away.

We keep the wine though.

13. I'll re-gift SOMETIMES.
But lotsa things are sooooo baaaaad you don't want to give them to anyone, and I will stick 'em in the corner or not even wait to throw them out. Long as the giver will never know it as THAT BAAAAD a gift.

I am certain I have received quite a number of 're-gifts' myself! They COULDN"T have gone out and picked THAT out just for Lil' Ol' Me!

hah haaaah haaah!

15. Only to the Women's Shelter. Anything that I get that I can't justify using, I donate to them.
And it adds up to a LOT of trips to the shelter.

I love that organization and I love the kids and women there.

17. I'm too absent-minded to re-gift ...
I'd probably give it to the person that gave it to me. I don't need the aggravation.

19. In the Desi culture you MUST regift
The idea of a good time is a series of constant dinners at people's homes, often accompanied by someone playing the harmonium/tabla and singing, or karaoke to Bollywood songs. If someone invites you, you MUST go, and then you MUST invite them. The first time you go to someone's home you're supposed to take a hostess gift of some sort. Generally it's a Mikasa vase or some sort of crystal serving platter or candy dish. You must be careful about the gift bag you carry it in - make sure the person giving YOU a gift in the bag didn't write anything on the tag, if present. I don't know how many of these items we've collected over the years. If they're really unusually beautiful, I'll keep them, but otherwise they go into the garage and are kept for the next time we go to someone's home for the first time. Sometimes I have to fight my husband when he commandeers one to go into "regifting" mode and I want to keep it.

I never regift personal gifts I'm given - just the "it's-my-first-visit-to-your-home-thanks-for-having-me-here's-your-crystal-serving-platter" items.
