Do you actually believe Batman is stronger than Superman?
And do you think Billy's dad is bigger than yours?

Oh, and does anyone really give a Damn except for a few partisans who can't seem to go a day without asking these silly questions to stir everyone up?

3. huh?
what's this got to do with anything? Superman, I believe, is a bogus super-hero and dont have any interest in the franchise. There is no point in having a super hero more powerful than every other one combined. It is a ludicrus concept. And defenders of the Super-Man franchise always go "Wait, there's kryptonite!" Yeah...that makes it also so ridiculous, 'cuz every time the villain 'happens' to get his hands on some kryptonite, making for a dull and repetitive plotline. Batman, though less powerful as a hero, is a far more interesting and imaginative franchise.

Thnx for reading my short superhero rant!

14. Superman was 4-F in World War II
A lot of comic book characters were drafted into The World's Fight Against Nazi Aggression.

The government asked that Superman not be drafted--they figured that Superman winning whole battles singlehandedly would demoralize the soldiers fighting the war. He was declared "blind as a bat" because they told him to read the eye chart and, while daydreaming about the Number Six he was going to pull on the Nazis, his X-Ray Vision kicked in and he read the eye chart in the next room.

Which is kinda spurious--wouldn't a doctor order a whole stack of identically-printed ones?--but it worked.

5. But Superman has those down-home values
that he got from living on a farm in Smallville. Those are the values that give him the strength that he has. Batman is from the Big City and never went to church.

IIRC Batman always keeps Kryptonite in the Batcave, just in case Superman goes rouge.

24. yeah...
Superman would win easily when it comes to raw power...of course, it's like facing Batman against God, since Super-Man practically is God. But that's what sucks about Super-Man comics...it might as well just be called "THE ADVENTURES OF GOD" 'cuz there's no challenge, thus no point.

but, on the topic, Batman and Superman did fight once in the comic, however, I believe it was one of those "what if...?" comic editions. Batman managed to beat him with the help of a heavy additional arsenal, but just barely.

45. You are correct!
You're referring, of course, to issue #4 of Frank Miller's excellent 1986 series The Dark Knight Returns. Specifically, the issue in question is The Dark Knight Falls. In it, thanks to careful planning, teamwork, and a kick-ass arsenal (including synthetic Kryptonite), Batman defeats Superman in hand-to-hand combat. Bats is also aided by the fact that Supes was, not long before, at ground zero of a massive nuclear detonation, but by any credible measure Batman wins the fight.

It wasn't originally marketed as a "what if" story but was simply an extrapolation of the existing storyline projected into the future, some ten years after Batman's retirement. It was later described as the first "Elseworlds" story, which is a convenient way of ducking any need to reconcile the story with the larger (and endlessly re-marketed) continuity.

23. Batman is cooler...
...but the challenge for anyone who writes Superman stories is to come up with a villain who's a credible threat. I'm going to cop out of the issue of "who's stronger?" and go with "who would be more fun to write?" And I'd say Batman, but Superman demands some real creativity.

How's he going to play in a state with no oceans? Even Michigan is more likely to go with the Flash or the Green Lantern.

48.  I cannot understand the blasphemy on this thread! :)

I don't agree with the premise of some of the above posts...Marvel, has a whole wide scope of characters who can destroy Superman in a heart beat. I don't understand how Marvel fans, can say that Superman is all powerful, when Marvel is chock full of God like heroes/villians, primarily villians. And to boot, Superman is/can be effected by mystical/magical powers, and can be beaten by villians, who are more powerful than him.

On the flip side though, the writers for Superman are usually very bland, and creating new, interesting story lines is few/far inbetween...most of the best Superman stories I have ever read, where Elseworld's...And I fully agree, that Batman comics are usually a lot better than Superman, but Supes is my man, but Bats is my second....:D BTW, The Dark Knight Returns is still my favorite graphic novel...very powerful, IMO.
