4. I watched the bonus disc a couple weeks ago
Part of it was a little documentary on the "real" Field of Dreams and how it's become something of a Mecca for baseball fans and others. The woman who owns the farm along with her husband was talking about the reactions of some people when they visit, and she said one guy — "a big, strapping 30-something" — knelt at home plate, crying his eyes out.

I knew what she was gonna say before she said it. I could feel it. Way down deep.

Thanks, Dad. :pals:

(This is my second "I miss my dad" thread in like 30 minutes. You guys are killin' me.)

7. There are 2 Fields of Dreams...
one is a full diamond, the other was built for outfield shots (left and center field), and they were built on different farms. The owners of the fields have been battling it out for a while as to who owns the "Real" Field of Dreams.

11. I dunno
The timing would be critical. The documentary had a lot of people being silly, pitching to their tee-ball-age kids and whatnot. That's all well and good, but I think I'd like to go alone, or with someone very close to me. It's a place for reverence and reflection.

But then, all ball yards are.

10. God damn is right - one of the dumbest movies I've ever slogged through.
It's like sitting through Forrest Gump twice.

13. It's the male version of a "chick flick"
There are few movies that men get weepy over, this is one of them. And "Brian's Song." But then they ridicule women for crying at movies. :eyes:

14. I only got weepy because I realized I'd wasted my time
and because I knew that a lot of people would fall for the obvious and childish emotional manipulation of the film.

You are dead right on that it's a male version of a chick flick. I like that phrase!

12. Remember that movie "Signs" with Mel Gibson
*SPOILER ALERT*

Turns out the aliens just want to play baseball but they haven't figured out how to make a baseball diamond in the cornfield yet.
