Audio Technology Question
I have a Sony component stereo system. It is over 10 years old and in excellent condition. It includes a dual cassette player/recorder which I really like because I have some great music on cassette. I don't currently have the capability with this older system to copy tapes to CD/DVD, but that is what I would like to be able to do since the venerable cassette technology is now old technology. I'm sure I would have to purchase some new component which, if it exists, I think might well interface with my old system. I'm just wondering if others here have addressed this issue and how they met it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :-)

3. Yes ,Stephanie is right.
Find the appropriate cable (Go to a Radio Slack or whatever)and plug

your stereo system to your computer's audio card(the "line in" hole,

and find a good audio recorder like Cool Edit Pro(who is now Adobe Audition).

Then record your music in MP3 and burn them to CD.

4. Thanks for the detail!
Many thanks to both you and Stephanie. I knew there was a way to do this, even for the technologically challenged like myself!

5. There is a lot of good info out there on this because
people have been doing this a long time, especially with boot-leg tapes of live performances. In some cases the boot-legs are perfectly legal, for example the Grateful Dead. A lot of people use lossless compression, which can be converted to mp3 or other formats.

A couple of links to help you get started:
