Sigh....I'm going to miss hip hugger bell bottoms
When they came back into vogue in the mid-90's, I was estatic. You see, I grew up in the 70s, and all during my childhood I thought the 70's styles were hot, and the women who wore them hotter. Unfortunately, I was a teen in the 80's. Now they may have had great music, but fuckall if acid washed tapered leg jeans were anything but just plain ugly. And the fucking shoulder pads - yuk.

And ballet flats? Shit, why not just start wearing bathroom slippers to work? They're just as fugly!

So now I'm seeing the 80's look come back. Sigh...I miss the 90s already.

1. Certain 80s styles were good, but I gotta agree with you.

:hi: I fucking HATED shoulder pads and acid-washed anything. :grr: I did like the Lycra Spandex pants trend, but I mainly wore them to New Wave concerts. :P And I did like animal print shirts with zippers in strategic places. :P Oh, and big hair...

3. Yes, I never missed big hair
I love the straight natural hippy girl look.

And the overkill on the rouge....yuk!

5. Yep...hated that too...
:yoiks: I remember going to a Clinique counter in about 1982 or 1983, and the consultant there suggested I buy fuschia blush and use it in the hollows of my cheeks to "contour"...:puke: Nope, no fuschia blush for me, and no contouring---ever.... :yoiks:

7. My face was very...um...colorful in the 80s. Very colorful.
I once saw myself on television and looked like freaking Bozo the clown.

Maybe 80s makeup never come back. Fortunately, I'm too old now to wear colors like that, and I wouldn't anyway.

23. There's bad 80s, just like any era. But then there's.....

Fuck it, I like angles. I like New Romantic and Cinema Noire. I like androgyny. I like ties worn for fun, not for work. I liked when we men got to be peacocks.

Sure, it's easy to laugh at Phil Oakey now, but he was in a relationship with BOTH the chicks from Human League.

2. Rest easy, Taverner.
Acid wash won't come back. It was just too damned awful the first time.

Bell bottoms never really came back; most people have been wearing boot cut and leaving the "flares" to the kids.

Boot cut will never go away. It's always been there.

Lower rise isn't going anywhere either. Ultra low rise can go away as far as I'm concerned, but I still like my jeans lower than my natural waist. Fortunately manufacturers seem to agree - even the skinny jeans that have come back have much lower rises than those of the 80s. I don't want jeans that come up to my ribs and require an eight-inch zipper.

Shoulder pads should be reserved for a very few only. I don't know who those few are. Watching old Golden Girls episodes, I can see that the girls often resembled linebackers. May I never purchase another item with shoulder pads.

4. I refuse to go back
I have embraced my low waisted boot-legged jeans and baby doll fitted shirts, and I'm sticking to it. I actually saw girls wearing LEG WARMERS in the mall last week. I about died. :eyes:

6. Oh geez, dont' get me started on buying clothing.
I'm actually the exact opposite. Although I'm basically a thin person my proportions are completely opposite from most women appearantly. Even after gaining some weight I should wear a 2 or 4 in todays sizes but the waists are all way too big and the legs aren't big enough, and what is going on with arms? For awhile I had no trouble buying shirts. Now all the arms are skin tight.

I thought they were telling us women to start pumping iron for health? Where do they expect women to put their muscles?

15. I love ballet flats
and leg warmers. Ballet flats don't look like 'bathroom' (do you mean bedroom?) slippers unless they're cheap and nasty. They look like rounded flats.

Bell bottoms are hideous. They make most people look shorter and stockier than necessary.
