Alos, it would be interesting to see a profile (histogram) of users versus posts. Just browsing the m's, I noticed a lot of 0 post members.

6. some of these names should be looked at...

All of the different Bryans, maddog and maddawg, ladem and ladem12, and then brutus and brutus1. This poses a problem for the individual who first started using the name. It would be nice if their were some limitations put on the names that others could use, so that they could obtain a username without stealing the name of another DUer.

7. there are a number derivations (or really, really close) nicks to mine

saleen, saline, and of course me: salin ... also a number of sal variations.

I really never thought it would be close to others but... :shrug:

8. When views were enabled

I noticed that it was rare to get a view count higher than 2000 or so and many of these had to be repeats of the same persons coming back to see the latest in a hot thread. That led me to believe that there are far fewer members who actually log on on regular basis, maybe just a few hundred.

In today's Talking Points Memo Josh Marshall speaks of "unique visitors" on a monthly basis as a metric for showing the growth of his site. Does DU publish such data?
