Lindbergh fathered 3 kids with German [in Germany]
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 08:47 AM by Kellanved
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - Three children of a German hat-maker claim their father was Charles A. Lindbergh, citing excerpts from more than 100 letters the famous pilot purportedly wrote their mother from 1957 to 1974.

In Saturday's edition of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily, the three described Lindbergh as a dedicated, although infrequent, father who regaled them with stories of his African adventures during visits to their Munich home.

Dyrk and David Hesshaimer and their sister, Astrid Bouteuil, offered no concrete proof.

A member of the Lindbergh family, contacted by Marlene White, executive director of the Anoka, Minnesota-based Lindbergh Foundation, declined to comment on the report.

The newspaper in question is the "Süddeutsche Zeitung", a very respected, left-leaning newspaper.

1. Was Lindbergh married at the time?
Just curious.

He was married to Anne Morrow Lindbergh; apparently he was living two lives.

3. This shouldn't be too surprising...
Given his public support for Germany under Hitler before the war.

4. It just means he wasn't a
perfect person. Not that I'd want to be married to him, mind you.

So what do we have here? He was a talented aviator and a creep.

I will very much appreciate the day when we can celebrate a person's accomplishments, give them all the laurels and medals they can stand, AND NOT tranfer the success of that accomplishment into hero worship for all aspects of life.
