11. I am so sorry.
I have a parrot as well, and I have lost a parrot before, so I understand how much these birds mean to their people. This is so sad. After some time goes by, you'll be able to fondly remember all the wonderful times you had with B.A. and smile and laugh when you think about him. What kind of parrot was he?

Hugs to you (((((Lady Freedom))))).

12. So sorry
I know how hurt you're feeling right now but I truly believe
heaven is not filled with paths of gold. It's filled with
happy dogs, cats and beautiful birds of all sizes and shape -
heaven simply would not be heaven without them. B.A. will
wait for you for as long as it takes.

I don't mean to sound corny but I lost two dogs within six
months of each other and my heart is still broken. The only way
I could get through losing them was to feel inside I would
see them again someday. I think I will. I hope I will!

Again, I feel your loss and I'm so, so sorry.

14. I'm so sorry! I can empathize about being away when he passed....
When I was about 8 years old, my little canary, Chippy, passed and my mother told me about while I was visiting my neighbors. I fought back the tears and ran to find my father just finishing burying him. I was so shocked and sad and felt heartbroken.

My father explained to me how things live and die but always stay alive as they return to the earth and the cycle of life. B.A. is still with you, just like Chippy is with me....

21. I'm picturing you and B.A. singing "Unforgettable"
And I'm laughing and getting choked up at the same time.

Unforgettable, that's what you are
Unforgettable though near or far
Like a song of love that clings to me
How the thought of you does things to me
Never before has someone been more

Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, that's how you'll stay
That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

I think these lyrics may be a fitting tribute.
Take care, Lady Freedom.

36. I am so sorry to hear
about your birdie. I love the singing "Unforgetable", that is a precious memory you will always have and love when you get used to being without him. I agree with others, if there is any kind of afterlife we will all be welcomed by the animals we loved and who loved us. I believe they will be waiting. Take care. ((HUGS))

17. Words for your bird, B.A.
All her friends call her Little Wing
But she flies rings around them all
She comes to town when the children sing
And leaves them feather as if they fall
She leaves her feathers as if they fall

Little Wing, don't fly away
When the summer turns to fall
Don't you know some people say
The winter is the best time of them all
Winter is the best of all.

Neil Young

Well she's walking through the clouds
with a circus mind
that's running wild
Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams
and fairly tales,
That's all she ever thinks about...

Riding the wind
When I'm sad she comes to me
With a thousand smiles
she gives to me free

It's alright, she says,
it's alright,
Take anything you want from me,
anything.

Fly on, little wing.

Jimi Hendrix

and my condolences.

19. I am so sorry
Pets are such wonderful creatures... I absolutely love all of mine.

I posted this on another thread (Jen6's kitty died). It is true for all pets:

Kinky Friedman had a wonderful epilogue to his book "Elvis, Jesus, and Coca Cola" about his cat Cuddles who died:

<snip>
"A few days ago I received a sympathy note from Bill Hoegenmeyer, the veterinarian. It opened with a verse by Irving Townsend: "We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle..."

"Now, as I write this, on a gray winter day by the fireside, I can almost feel her light tread, moving from my head and my heart down through my fingertips to the keys of this typewriter. People may surprise you with unexpected kindness. Dogs have a depth of loyalty that often we seem unworthy of. But the love of a cat is a blessing, a privilege in this world.

"They say when you die and go to heaven all the dogs and cats (and bird!) you've ever had in your life come running (or flying) to meet you.

"Until that day, rest in peace, Cuddles."

28. macaws can live to be 75-100 years old in captivity....
but conures' lifespans are generally 15 to 50 years in captivity depending on the species. i looked up white-eyed conures and their lifespan is generally 15 to 30 years, so your friend lived a full conure life and was, no doubt, happy, loved and well cared for.

It's going to be very hard for you for a long time. Sadness has no end but you will be able to think of him without crying in a few months. I know that pain very well. It's so hard! Please remember the wonderful times you had with him and don't let anyone try to tell you to get over it. It's your pain and you need to work through it on your own. I'll be thinking about you!
Much love,

32. How Sad
I'm very sorry for your loss.

When you think the time is right, you might look into Exotic Bird Rescue. Giving another creature a safe, loving home is one of the best tributes to a lost friend's memory. When the time is right, of course.

40. a poem, "Lend Me a Bird"
Lend Me A Bird

"I will lend to you for awhile,
a bird", God said.
For you to love him while he lives
and to mourn for him when he is dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe for two or three.
But will you, till I call him back,
take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you
and should his stay be brief,
You'll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise that he will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this bird to learn.

I've looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true.
And from the folks that crowd life's land,
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love;
nor think the labour vain;
Nor hate me when I come to take
my lovely bird again?

I fancied that I heard them say,
For all the joys this bird will bring,
the risk of grief you'll run.
Will you shelter him with tenderness?
Will you love him while you may?
And for the happiness you'll know
forever grateful stay?

But should I call him back
much sooner than you've planned;
Please brave the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand.
If, by your love, you've managed,
my wishes to achieve,
In memory of him you've loved;
be thankful; do not grieve.

Cherish every moment of your feathered charge.
He filled your home with songs of joy,
the time he was alive. Let not his passing
take from you those memories to enjoy.
"I will lend to you, a Bird", God said,
and teach you all you have to do.
And when I call him back to heaven,
you will know he loved you too.
