An apology to the Lounge for my ill-conceived gag.

Hello. As many of you know, I attempted tonight to create a gag. It was a silly idea I had shared with GoPsUx for our respective birthdays a few days ago, and I decided to go ahead with it. Unfortunately, as these things sometimes do in the Lounge, it did not go well. Also, GoPsUx was not available to participate after I created it, leaving many with the impression that I did this at his expense.

I did not do this at his expense, but he did not appear. So in that light, I want to openly apologize to him if I did indeed hurt him. I also apologize to BNL for pulling her into the gag. We did discuss her getting in on it before it happened, but that got out of hand. I did try to lock the thread a few times, but it seems not to have taken yet.

And I apologize to you, Lounge, for the thread itself. I humbly hope that you will accept my apology, as it pains me that I would have hurt anyone at all.

Something appeared amiss. Yes, I have seen amicable divorces and one aspect appeared a bit suspicious. What person in their right mind will just say, oh you can have the house and sure I will let your boyfriend move in.

No matter how amicable a divorce occurs, no person will let someone they split with have the entire house and let some boyfriend of the woman he had to give up enjoy the fruits of his labor scott free. LOL.

Didn't seem too bad to me. I have found that it's hard to please everybody, some jokes can really be taken wrong by some, while others think they are hilarious. Usually that's what makes a good joke so good, you don't know whether to be offended or to laugh your ass off. Unless that joke comes from Dennis Miller or that goofy Daily Show wannabe show on Fox. Then you can be sure it's not funny. :)

People post jokes all the time. "So and so is running off with someone. So and so flashed their butt at so and so." It's usually obviously a joke and people have fun with it.

I couldn't tell that it was a gag, as I wouldn't be surprised to read a post like that in the Lounge. And the thread seemed to not only be about GOPSux, but maybe also about rubbing your new (fake) relationship in someone else's face. That just seemed mean.

But it was obviously not your intention. Everything you wrote was not atypical of friendly lounge teasing, except that many of us were not in on the joke.

It was good of you to clarify things.

It was my idea to play along. I didn't take into account that my friends would worry about me. I apologize to them.

You just never know how a joke will go. :shrug:

But least you know that many people care that much for you... especially when accosted by "evil" me. :P
