1. While I don't miss living in OR (too much goddamn rain), I'll always miss the coast
I'm convinced it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Lovely pictures :hi:

13. try living in the willamette valley and tell me that
It's on the other side of a rain shadow (Cascade mts) and I recall reading it has the most rainy days out of the year outside Seattle in the lower 48 states :(

I got seasonal depression really bad because of it.

Just curious.

8. Did you hunt for agates?
I understand they can be found on the beaches around Bandon. I found a nice specimen on the Oregon coast years ago, but I don't think it was near Bandon.

11. Thanks for the pics, we'll be there next month
The Newport area. It'll be our third visit, and we can't wait, we just love it there. We'll be camping out at Beverly Beach State Park, and last time we were there we found lots of nice agates. We're also hitting Rainier, Portland, Long Beach WA, Olympic NP, and the North Cascades. It's going to be a great trip. I just wish we could fit Crater Lake in this time, it was hazy there in 2003 but still amazingly spectacular.

12. I miss Oregon!!!
I lived in Portland during law school (GO Lewis and Clark) and in West Lynn for a few years after that. Now I'm in NY, except for the annual vacation to Portland to see friends and family. I miss the coast SO MUCH! We used to drive out to Ecola State Park and spend the night on the beach.
We took a great vacation last year to Gearhart for a week, then spent a few days driving to the California state line. I have a friend down in Coos County, so we stopped in Bandon for a couple of days. I played golf at the Pacific Dunes coarse at the Bandon Dunes resort. IMO, there is not a more beautiful golf course in the country (some golf magazine agreed with me having rated it ahead of Pebble beach last year, the people at the course were very proud of that accomplishment). Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I hope to be back in Bandon next year. This summer we are staying in Portland for a week, then driving out to The Dalles to see some old friends. Your pics are wonderful and they have inspired me to make sure we return to Bandon soon.
