Poll question: Life with my writing partner: A poll.
So I email my writing partner the week before Memorial Day.

"Hey," I write. "I'm heading to New Orleans for Memorial Day. Then my birthday's on the 2nd. Would you like to meet sometime in the month of June?"

He writes back, "Sure. Why don't you call me when you get back?"

Memorial Day weekend comes and goes. I return to Colorado after my trip and call him, per his instructions.

"Hello," I say. "You asked me to call you?"

"Oh... yes," he says. His voice has this hesitance that makes my stomach sour. "I'm actually heading to California for the next week. Can we touch base later next week?"

"Sure," I say. "So... would you like me to call you? Email you?"

"Yes, yes. Would you email me next week?"

"Okay."

A week passes. I'm now sitting in my office, following his trail of bread crumbs in my mind, puzzling over this man's odd method of communication. This is all rather Seinfeldian, but wouldn't it make more sense for HIM to email ME or to call me when HE returns from his trip? Why should I be tracking him down? This is but one more maddening chapter in a book of poor communication with this person. Maybe my methods in contacting him are all wrong. If so - what should I try?

;)

I think he'd take offense to that. :P

18. The first visit could be...cordial...
You know, something like: "Look, Mr. X, we got a mutual friend, and she/he's...concerned...that she/he seems ta be havin' a hard time...communicatin'...wit you. And she/he is, uh, a...sensitive type...ya' know what I mean? Maybe you would like to give him/her a call. By tomorrow night. 'Cause I don't wanna have to send one of the guys over here to make a 'personal call'. Kapisch?
I'm glad we had this talk."

Smething like that...

:D

you'd have nothing to photograph. :(

But then you could take me out for drinks to wash away my disappointment. :hi:

13. A writing partner? Never heard of one of those. But I've known LOTS of business partners,
and have never seen even one business partnership work out in the long run.

Sorry to have to tell you that, but you know I'll be honest with you even when nobody else will.

He's my mentor actually, and he's still gung-ho for this project. I've known him for four years and he's always been like this. It gets a little maddening at times, however. :)

17. Any decent relationship includes a maddening aspect, yes? Mentor, partner,
spouse, other SO...were the road of life too smooth, we'd miss thoese interesting moments when our vehicle hits a bump and we're thrown together with another in unexpected physical contact, yes?

You know those moments I mean.
