Hey, why do mosquito bites itch?
Got one on each ankle. I mean, muthaf**k!! I'm dying here...

1. put band aids on them. i think they itch due to an allergic reaction.

11. Rachel Maddow was talking about this on her show the other day,

in her "Ask Dr. Maddow" segment. You are correct, mainegreen. The saliva is an allergen, and when they sting us, the histamins go crazy and we start itching. She said that one of the reasons scratching mosquito bites feels so good is that scratching activates the pleasure center of our brains, and that it's almost like a distraction. It was an interesting little segment.

This is why they itch: When the mosquito bites you, it injects a little local anesthetic to keep you from feeling the bite!

When that wears off......it itches!

It most likely is some sort of allergic reaction...
