The Silver Surfer

Although I never read any of the old comic books I always thought the Silver Surfer was a good guy. I thought that every time I heard him mentioned in cartoons he was being referenced as a good guy. Why is the Fantastic Four movie making him out to be a bad guy? From the trailers of the movie it seems that the Silver Surfer will at least for part of the movie be a villain trying to destroy earth.

1. Silver surfer was a scout for Galactus a planet eater


He was never bad just sort of imprisoned.
Galactus gave him his power.

2. In order to spare his planet from the wrath of Galactus, Norrin Radd
pledged his service to Galactus and became the Silver Surfer. He was stripped of his memories, and helped Galactus destroy many planets before they came to Earth. Surfer had a change of heart during the fight between the fantastic four and galactus and switched sides.
He felt extremely guilty about his actions while serving Galactus and has dedicated his life since then to atoning for his sins. He's definitely a 'Christ-like' figure in the marvel universe.
One of my favorite superheroes.
SO yeah, he was kinda a bad guy at first, till he snapped out of it.
