I got the idea for it when the DoD announced it was blocking access to myspace, youtube and several other sites from the DoD network.

Suggestions, kudos and criticisms greatly appreciated.

If anyone here has a loved one over in Iraq, please have them check to see if they can access it. I know it's no youtube or myspace, but at least they will have some common place to gather if they decide to use it. If the 'underground' part is blocked, hey no problem, I own about 70 domain names, and can host as many as I want on my server. We'll figure out a way to help the troops keep in touch.

I just want to help the troops be able to reach their families and friends without interference from the DoD. If it means using subversive tactics, so be it. Isn't that what being part of the 'underground' is all about?

I've been doing a little work here and there on a few sites. It's not exactly what I wanted, but I don't have the $200 to buy a good social networking script like this one http://www.2coolcode.com/ourspace/demo.shtml .

It only shows it as $149.00 on there, but I contacted the owners via email about a "multiple use" license because both my kids wanted me to make them their own website like myspace. They said for $50.00 more I could have a multiple use license. Eh, one of these days. Business is starting to pick up at the restaurant, but I'm still struggling through that first year with it and watching every penny I spend. In the meantime, I'm doing everything I can to make money on the side through web businesses and such.

It reminds me of the blue oval news. Why isn`t this in GD?? Seems like a lot more people would see it. K&R

I thought there might be more people hanging in the lounge on weekends than in GD.

I had to set all the forums to protected, which requires sign up to post.

Someone who was trolling here yesterday went over to the other site which can't be named and tried to start a big deal over it. Someone signed in and left a message that's better left unrepeated. He signed up when I changed them from public, but so far hasn't posted anything. I sent him a nice welcoming email, which I typed out personally, reminding him that my site focused on military matters and our troops, not political matters and our candidates. That's what we have our DU for, and their sites they choose to frequent.
