Woo hoo! I am so excited I just got offered a position as an Executive Director of a small non profit in my community.
The non-profit serves to empower this community of about 100 people or 20 families just outside of the city limits. The community is new by no means - as it has been there for 30-40 years but it is THE most environmentally, economically and socially distressed community within the state. There is no runny water or sewage. The members of the community are all ages and vary in family history.
Their is such potential - I will be working on negotiating with the County to bring in water lines or electricty or paved roads to working on grants for job training, educational training, parenting classes, alcohol drug counseling, anger management, community empowerment, possible small microfinance or microcredit initiatives. www.aplaceforhope.net
Anyway I posted here a couple weeks ago about my interview so now sharing my joy about the job.
If you have experience in non profit development or management I would also greatly appreciate any shared stories or suggestions as well.
