5. Meh, it won't make any difference

I learned I'm already near the top of the pay scale for a "level 2 analyst programmer" and the only way I can get to level 1 is by doing less programming and more bullshit. Sorry, I mean "analysis". Essentially they don't view programming of itself as a particularly worthy skill, which is a shame since I am really into programming. The only way to get ahead in my workplace is to stop being a programmer and start sitting in boring meetings all day, for which you are deserving of more money for some reason. I suppose the meetings are very boring, so maybe the better pay is compensation for that.
