I'm looking at some graduate programs and National University's name came up.

The thing is I've never heard of them.

Any opinions on them?

2. I lived in La Jolla for 5 years and as I saw SoCAL said..
it is Beautiful! I love the Ocean and specifically the Pacific Ocean and La Jolla is such a "jewel"! Expensive, though! and this was back in the '70's.

I would say there is a lot of good energy around there!

4. Unless they've moved, it's not in La Jolla
(which is just a subdivision of San Diego, not a city. It is very pretty, though.)

When I lived there, Nat'l University was on a Eucalyptus-shaded slope on Poway Road, just east of Miramar Air Station, which puts it about 10 miles inland. From what I heard, it was a very eclectic school, with a LOT of international students, and a rather high tuition. I do think it has a good rep, though.

The university nearest La Jolla was UCSD, an excellent school.

SDSU in central San Diego seemed to be more the party school.

5. My college professor dad called it a diploma mill
we are from San Diego originally. National University has a bunch of franchise campuses scattered over the SD area. The one I would see the most is located right above the 8 freeway.

As far as I know, it's a for profit school with high tuition that does not have the most selective requirements. Except the requirement to pay. I seem to remember them running ads on the radio about their "earn a degree in one day a week while you keep your job" or some such program.

Note - this is my gut assesment based on a 5 year old conversation with my dad. So take with a big fat grain of salt. Perhaps it has changed a lot since my dad was as professor at SDSU. He is a really serious guy who has high standards, and a bit of a snob about schools. I disapointed him by not being a good student.

San Diego is a fun area to be a student in! La Jolla is pretty, but very expensive. I like the funky areas like Ocean Beach and downtown a lot more.

6. Diploma mill.....don't go.
Try UCSD, SDSU or USD, all legit San Diego schools. BTW - UCSD abuts Black's Beach so you can watch hang-gliders and naked people over lunch!
