Is it bad that my microwave is next to my computer?
I heard it could fry my motherboard and I want a confirmation on that.

And if so, would it hurt if I just turned off my computer to run my microwave?

1. I think you will be fine..
I have never-ever heard of any problems from placing the two next to each other.

3. Well along with this rumor...
I heard that microwaves cook a little bit on the outside too.

2. Nope
It may interfere with the transmissions of a 2.4GHz WiFi router but it's not gonna fry any hardware.

Hmmmmm.... microwave near the computer. I assume that the frig/freezer is already there? Commode?

I like the way you think.

4. The microwave draws a lot of current when it starts.
The power transient caused by the microwave starting may drop the line voltage below what the computer needs to operate.

At least make sure the computer and microwave are on different circuits. If the screen on your monitor fluctuates when you start the microwave, plug one of them into a different outlet.

You could get an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) power supply for the computer to isolate it.

5. Would that be the only problem?
Because I didn't have that when I started my microwave beside my computer.
