1. cleared off a shelf in the attic to make a lurking perch
Yep, I have this little shelf about 7 inches deep that is part of the framing in around my stairs, and I had some table linens folded there, and some boxes and other odd things. So Lewis and Clark starting dumping stuff off this ledge so they can lurk there. We would hear these strange clunks and find things in the middle of the stairs; now that the space is cleared, they lounge up there. Silly beasts. They also like to jump across the stairwell to the other side just for exercise.

The dog on the other hand, begs for my Ozarka bottles and likes to crunch them in his teeth. He also loves the little tubes from toilet paper and paper towel rolls; he will come prancing in the room and gently lay this soggy piece of cardboard in your lap. He is a pretty large dog so it is really ridiculous.

14. hi There Bertha
he is really my grand-dog. My daughter acquired him when she was out on her own and when she moved back in with us, he came along. He is fun, no doubt about that.

When you hand him the water bottle or cardboard tube, he takes it in his teeth ever so gently, as if it were fine crystal.

not your ordinary pit bull, I must say.

However cats hate him and that is why they spend the daylight hours upstairs behind the door in the safe place. He gets locked in my daughter's bedroom at bed time and then we open the upstairs door and cats come down, and have run of the manse at night. Pretty funny. There was an old Johnny Winter song called "They Only Come out at Night"..well that is my kitties. My husband has an office upstairs and they enjoy lounging about with him. They have soft donut beds and windows to lie in too, and many strange cubbyholes to explore thanks to the large shelving he built in the storage area ..

How is Mrs V doing?

17. thanks for asking...
she's very poor, actually. recovery is glacial, and she was expecting to bounce back like she did from arthroscopic on her joints - and even her gall bladder. but the gall bladder was done laparoscopically. abdominal surgery is different and i wish i had remembered that (from hysterectomy) so i could've warned her. the unexpected terrible time recovering is almost as bad as how she feels.

keep her in your thoughts, YD. thanks

19. My yorkie loves ozarka bottles and the tubes from toilet paper and paper towel rolls too.
How funny. They are her favorite "toys" She also love a single sheet of paper towel. She shreds it, shakes it into shreds and I can't get it away from her.

2. I don't have a story. I have a picture.
Unfortunately, this is the best of the bunch I took while the Skittens were fighting with each other under the rug.

5. Oh, lord, that's such a great picture.
One wants to play Ultimate Fighter, and the other is making the first move of a game of Smell My Butt.

Love it.

3. Wiggles fell in a hole he helped dig, then he was licking the hose
and my daughter turned it on him. A real DOH moment for him.

We call him wiggles (our dog - half mini dachshund and half Jack Russell) because his whole back half wiggles when he wags his tail.

4. I have a half dachshund and half Jack Russell, also!
Cutest darn things, aren't they??

Smart, too. I was slow to wake up one day and when she couldn't get my attention by nudging my head with her nose, she turned her attention to my alarm clock and starting nudging it! Guess she caught on that when the "little box" on my bedside table makes a sound I get up.

11. Ours is a chocolate color, will get a pic tomorrow of him
and yeah, he is smart - and loveable :) My daughter can (and has) dressed him up, carried him around, pried his mouth open, etc, and he just goes with the flow but you can see in his eyes he is like 'not this shit again'

16. Here's mine
She's the one in the doggie bed. Does your's have some white toenails and some black? Our's has alternating colors...what I was told was that Jack Russells have white toenails and Dachshunds have black. We saw her nails and went "wow, she really is a mix, right down to her toenails!".

At first, I thought the photo was a double exposure of the same dog.

6. Not so much funny as uncanny.
When pestering me for fresh food doesn't work, my cat will just puke on the dish and make me clean it all out -- gotta start fresh after that.

I wish I knew where she learned that trick.

8. My mini schnauzer is obsessed with unmaking my bed,
Specifically the bottom fitted sheet. I'll fix my whole bed, then walk in later, she'll be on my bed and the top half has the fitted sheet corners pulled off, mattress exposed.
Meanwhile the top sheet and comforter/pillows are also pushed back cuz she has to move those to get to the fitted sheet! Refix the bed, same scenario later...She looks so cute curled up on the bundle of sheets/comforter I don't have the heart to close my door to keep her off the bed...so I just keep remaking the bed a few times a day!

9. well i have kind of an amusing one about princess Bob.
he's the piggy in my sig line. Anyhow Bob is a fairly large creature and a pretty happy one as well and gets very excited about food time, he has 2 bowls, one for the organic spring mix and the other is for the dry stuff--aka Guinea pig chow, so every morning i come downstairs and there he sits waiting so i say "Bob, which bowl?" and Bob goes to whichever bowl he wants refilled and puts his little princess feet on the lip of said bowl and wits for me to fill it. I think he's pretty smart because he knows which bowl has what and he has done a phenomenal job of training me.

12. The terrible twosome,
Millie and Grayson, now just over a year old, are still in that "catch me if you can" play stage. The other day I was standing on my deck watching them take turns chasing each other, when somebody got his or her signals crossed and they ran toward each other and whanged into each other in midair, knocking themselves silly. They paused for breath and then continued the game.

Grayson is a continual laugh. He's a bug man. Anything that hops, flies, crawls, he's on it. Potatoe bugs seem to be his specialty, but his most recent and daring catch was a dragonfly. (I've managed to rescue all of his catches.) Millie prefers the wigglies. I can't tell you how many snakes and lizards I've removed from the house. (So far I've saved all but one.)

13. This one happened just today.
Caesar, the older cat in the house, was lying on his crinckly bag (one of those fancy bags with the plastic inner layer) in the living room. We had our floor fan on, which is one of those tall models that rotates. Caesar and the bag were right in front of it.

When the fan rotated toward Caesar, it blew his fur around. He must have been able to feel it. I say this because he began writhing about like he was being petted on his back. I thought it was quite funny. Of course, Caesar has never been able to hide his love for tactile pleasure.

15. Grandkitty is always concerned if he hears noises coming from someone's nose.
My daughter's often told me that he'll sneak up on her chest while she's sleeping and stick his nose into her nostril if she makes any noise.

Soooo...this morning I was in the ahem.. bathroom. I'd just got out of bed and wasn't fully awake when suddenly I had a cats nose up my nostril. That'll definitely open your eyes. He'd jumped onto the sink and reached over to me to see if I was ok.

Strange sensation let me tell ya..kitty nose in nostril.

20. Marilyn is the biggest ham of all the cats, though they are all
exceptionally sweet and wacky. Marilyn has long, blonde-ish fur and is fond of standing over the floor vents, preening and swishing her long, luxurious tail as the air blows her fur around, hence why she has been named "Marilyn" She's a big cat, part Maine coon, and one hell of a flirt.

She also has discovered "bumper-cars": I left out a shoe box that is perfect kitty size, and she folded herself into it - with lots of puffed blonde fur up around her face. I started to push and pull the box around and around, forward, back, in circles, etc. and she just LOVED it. Now if she wants a ride, she'll run into the living room, hop into the box and look at me expectantly, and meow if I haven't caught on fast enough.

I loves my kitties!!!
