4. hahahaha, I've seen it twice too. My other favorite favorite favorite
is Benny and Joon, got my daughter in love with that one. And "What's eating Gilbert Grape" I actually, rather guiltily begged off seeing Pirates for the third time just today.

8. Those are two I
haven't seen. I'll have to go to the video store for a Deppfest sometime soon.

I've seen Sleepy Hollow, and The 9th Gate, both of which I enjoyed. A lot of people didn't like the 9th Gate. Found out about it b/c of my predaliction for international films. Liked it, but the ending was unsatisfying.

I'll probably go see Pirates one more time before it leaves the big screen.

15. See Chocolat right now!
Edited on Sun Aug-03-03 11:04 PM by tjdee
He doesn't have a major role, but he is *very* good looking in it, and I was *very* jealous of Juliette Binoche, woo! He plays a gypsy, plays the guitar, grrrrroooowwwlllll...It was a very sweet film.

Next, he's up in Once upon a time In Mexico, the last of the el Mariachi trilogy w/Antonio Banderas &Salma Hayek...comes out next month I think. Kind of a revenge/shoot-em up thing, but I just saw Desperado (part 2) and Antonio Banderas is looking pretty hot as well and I enjoyed it.

Then he's going to be playing J.M. Barrie, of all people (the author of Peter Pan) in a life story kind of thingie, coming out next year...
He is tentatively scheduled to play Kit Marlowe (the project is in development, fingers crossed)....opposite Jude Law's Shakespeare... as Jack Ritter used to say in Three's Company, Mercy!

I do appreciate those big brown eyes, but I'm more of an Adrien Brody/Orlando Bloom/Ed Norton kind of gal, LOL. Should he show up at my door professing undying love, though, I think I'd forget about every one of those guys I just named!

19. Read the book - one of my favourites! It's called The Dumas Club...
By Arturo Perez-Reverte.

The film only covered 50% of the book and the ending is totally different - far more satisfying.

It's one of my favourite books by one of my favourite authors - do yourself a favour and read it.

31. Benny and Joon is classic Depp, you'll love it.
He's very Buster Keatonish. It is one of the very few movies I actually went out and bought.

6. Loved the movie but realised something
Depps pirate is Hunter Tompson from Fear and Loathing with more style. Still the best dang pirate I have seen in a long time. Who knew Hunter S was a pirate in another life?

16. Best. Political. Writer. Ever.
And don't let the insanity scare you away. He's brutally honest about his subjects and about his creative substance abuse.

Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 is a classic for any politics buff.

35. I love Hunter Thompson's writing.
I started reading him in college in the seventies(not in class). "Hell's Angels" was the first one I read. "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" was passed around among my group of friends. "Fear and Loating on the Campaign Trail 1972" was such an insightful political book that I wished they would have assigned it in my poli sci classes.

When he makes a big jack-o-lantern smile, that's pepi.

Uncle Duke in Doonesbury is modeled after Hunter.

32. People(for once) did a great article on him a couple of weeks
ago, profiling a little bit more of his family life. And some idiotic Repuke wrote in taking him to task for saying America was a nice place to visit but he wouldn't want to live there anymore.

As a mother, if there was a way I could move my children to a kinder gentler place, I'd be on it. I say, good for him, I'm jealous.

34. Sorry, but Johnny Depp doesn't do anything for me.
I thought he was kinda cute in "21 Jump Street," but that's about it. For me, he's one of those, "I don't get it" when I hear women drooling over him. Oh well, to each her own. :-)
