Could there be a better place to live than Minneapolis MN?
Seriously.

Nice people, a great public radio station, lots of lakes and outdoor activities year round, close proximity to the north of the state and Lake Superior.

You name it, we have it. I cant imagine living anywhere else.

...great but even Minni has it's weird stuff.

I remember Prime time TV being "Preempted" by High School Football...fuckin' strange.
The Men there are "Eat-Up" with Sports....cause they lack......something???

...driving down I35 at .001 miles per hour in the F%^$% Snow and ice.
Coming out of work at 5:00 and seeing your car Frozen....No I don't mean just
cold..I mean..the Fuel lines are FROZEN... WTF!!

People calling a small Lake "The Beach" (What the Hell is THAT shit all about!)

...And going "Up North" ...what a stupid saying..

70. Lmao, raised near Minneapolis, now live near St. Pete
and would give ANYTHING to move back to MN! St. Pete is one of the few saving graces of Florida though I must say.

will take the snow over the "wet" (yes there IS a difference) stifling heat any day.

Now if I can just talk my husband's entire family into relocated to MN.

In the 'burbs, though. Eden Prairie, Shoreview, and the unfortunately named Coon Rapids.
Had I been childless, I'd have loved to live in Minneapolis or St.Paul.

We moved here primarily because our families are nearby. They're a big part of our kids' lives, so it's a compelling factor in our staying here.

the Museums are awesome. Even I enjoy them.

I have an uncle in Duluth, we usually go fishing for a week every summer. We used to get coney dogs from the Coney Island downtown, but they are not as good as they were 15 years ago.

Plus, you have Spirit Mountain. I learned to ski there.

Depending, of course, on where the employment was.

54. I was born in Minneapolis, lived in Minnesota till I was 22
and now I'm back after living elsewhere (Wisconsin, New York State, Connecticut, Japan, Oregon).

Minneapolis has good points and bad points, the worst point being the abysmal public transit system. But I'm spoiled after living in Tokyo (the world's best transit system, to my mind) and Portland (the best transit system in any mid-sized city in the U.S.). Oh, and the humidity in the summer.

Portland can get hot in the summer (it was just over 100° a couple of days ago), but it's drier, and so not as sticky and miserable as Minneapolis was last week. In Portland, it almost always cools off at night, down into the low 60s or even 50s, even if it's been 105° during the day.

Benedum Center
The Southside

Station Square
Oakland
Carnegie Mellon University
The University of Pittsburgh
Duquesne University
Carlow
Chatham
Phipps Conservatory
Shenley Park
Frick Park
Loads of bars and places to go for music
Steelers
Pirates
Penguins
Riverhounds

hick?

I don't think so...

I won't bash other cities...but I have traveled around the country and I have been to a lot of small cities with absolutely nothing to do...

I have also been to large cities (Atlanta) where people couldn't name even 5 nice things to do during my stay in Atlanta (we were thinking of moving there..the residents who lived there had a hard time thinking of anything to do in Atlanta..when they countered with ...well what would you do in Pittsburgh...I could name at least 20 things..)

Pittsburgh isn't New York and it isn't LA...but it has a lot of the things that people go to larger cities for but it is not so claustrophobic as some of those cities can be...

69. Grew up in Minnesota
Moved to England last year after 25 years of Minnesota life.

I always looked forward to going shopping to the Cities. Went to the Rolling Stones Concert in the Dome. In 1996, when the Smithsonian celebrated its 150th anniversary by taking its most popular exhibits around the country, I went to St. Paul to see it. Went to Mickey's Diner afterwards. I was a former regular of the History Center, using its libraries for research whenever I could! Going up to the Dome to see Kirby play is one of my favourite childhood memories. (I did eventually meet him and got his autograph!)

I did live in Money Magazine's Number 1 City south of Minneapolis. It's sad how it's gotten so boring since then!

A little blue oasis....
I'm sure Minneapolis is nice, but I don't like snow.

77. I've been to Minneapolis. I'll take St. Louis.
Nothing personal, but nope.

78. We tend to avoid MPLS at all costs except for concerts. It's better up here in Brainerd.
The traffic in Mpls has gotten completely off the chart crazy. Thank god they are starting to expand the light rail out of the city.

Having grown up in MN, and after living in other states, I never bought the concept of "Minnesota nice". Road rage is rampant in the Cities.

When we can get a cheaper airfare, we drive to Fargo to fly, avoiding MSP at all costs.

Give me the lakes and the trees and the low crime rate and the exceptional schools any day of the week.
