Has anyone heard of a group called "Weather Report"?
I'm watching Chick Corea on Tavis Smiley and he brought that group to mind-was he ever in it, or am I cracking up?
Any help gratefully appreciated!

1. Yes. The group made Jaco Pastorius famous.
I have their 1977 album "Heavy Weather".

They're good.

4. They got a lot of play on progressive rock stations in the early
70's...

And then when the Prog Rock, or Album Oriented Rock (AOR) was swiflty kicked back to college stations, FM became a crisper sounding AM top 30 format...

7. Yep, though I don't have any of their albums.
They're one of the great jazz fusion bands, though.

14. We're going to see Bela Aug 1st!
At the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle for their annual Summer Zoo Tunes program.

Excellent setting, great little venue...picnic, kids, and the sweet sweet funky jazz fusion(if you will) of Bela and his Flecktones!

15. Weather Report was a great group!
I was lucky enough to catch them live before Jaco Pastorius was killed.
Watch this video for a taste:

17. Chick Corea was in Return To Forever, not Weather Report...
I had to listen to a lot of that with my stoner buddies in the 70s

18. Nope. Never heard of 'em. Are they a boy-band?

Shorter? Erskine? Zawinul? Pastorius? Those sound like made-up names to me.
