I think the mofo is infected. Hurts like a sonofa. Soon as the kid's Dad comes to get him, I'm taking something and tying to sleep until my dentist's office reopens.

4. I shudder to think what the weekend emergency rate is.
Unless something horrible happens, it can wait until morning. I mean, there's no tooth there, so what's the worst that can come of waiting?

Seriously, you could die. No joke. People have died from tooth infections, even fairly recently. Call the dentist. ASAP. Your health is worth it.

3. You should call your dentist's office.
Edited on Sun Jul-15-07 07:15 PM by Akoto
Even if it's after hours, most dentists now have an emergency answering service. They might be able to hook you up with some antibiotics and something for the pain. I've had to do it a time or two. :)

6. They gave me antibiotics and vikes when they pulled the thing
Once the kid's picked up, I'll take the vikes. Can't do that until then, it's kinda bad parenting to pass out and drool on the kid.

12. depending on their strength
Vicodin (500 mg) never made me pass out. Didn't they suggest warm salt water rinse? Ice is good for swelling. Are these wisdom teeth?

Hope you get better very soon. Edited to add: please rinse your mouth out often while you're awake.

You may need to be seen or need a different antibiotic.

10. Have you checked your temperature?
A dental infection can spread; it's close to the brain.

11. If it's a tooth extraction, try rinsing with warm water
You may have a bit of food stuck in there ... hurts like a mofo but the relief is immediate if that's what it is. May be a dry socket, too. Bake

That's all I can say at the moment. I've been through a bad wisdom tooth experience, so I (literally) feel your pain.

16. I dont know what happened to you
But when I needed a root canal last year, Ibuprofen worked the best while I waited to see a dentist.
