i've written on DU about why i believe it's never okay to hit your kid - spank, tap, slap, grab arm real hard and yank - never, never, never. But i don't have time now. if someone would like to hear it, let me know in reply and i'll post it tomorrow. If this thread is still open.

It's about "Christian Domestic Discipline" which to me sounds like a rationale for spousal abuse.

I met him at work 19 years ago and frankly, I think I got the better end of the deal.

He's wonderful in every way.

Case in point: I bought a new van in November. Really nice van. Nicest car I have ever owned or ever will own.

I told him that I didn't want him taking the garbage to the dump with it because I didn't want it to stink. (Pretty petty of me, in actuality)

So, he asks me last week can he take my car and he will then take it to get it cleaned?

I felt really bad. I bought the car for the family. but I didn't intend for it to be a burden to him.

Yesterday, he washed my van inside and out. He's a gem. God Bless Him and I hope he outlives me.

Edited to add- We have some friends into the BDSM thing and they tried to tell us the upside of it. Whatever works for them is fine for them but no one is telling me what to do. My DH wanted an independent women and I know once in a while he is sorry for what he wished for. Then again after a quarter century he is still around and happy. The friends are separated right now. To make it a Christian thing is just a matter of trying to justify using pain/punishment as an ok to enjoy what should be enjoyed anyway.
