Man hits 6-year-old, steals his money, police say
LAKELAND - A Polk County man is in jail after reportedly hitting a 6-year-old boy and stealing $10 from him.

The incident happened in front of the Reynolds Food Mart in Lakeland around 6:15 p.m. Friday.

Investigators say the boy was walking up to the store when Ortiz got in his way and threatened to hit the boy if he didn’t give Ortiz the money.

The boy refused, and Ortiz struck him on the arm while another man snatched the bill from the boy’s hand.
