Woman Returns Home To Find Dead Burglar

An Interlachen woman returned home Saturday to find that a woman burglar had broken in and died inside her mobile home, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office reported.

Misty Carner, 29, of Interlachen was found dead on the floor in the master bedroom of a home in the 200 block of Maltas Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Summer Janine Smith, 34, found Carner face down in a dresser drawer.

Smith called officers while her boyfriend contacted a friend, who is a nurse and who determined that Carner was dead.

Drugs may have played a part in the burglary and Carner's death, said Putnam County Sheriff's Major Keith Riddick.

Relatives and others who knew Carner said she had been abusing cocaine, he said.
