So you know that Stonehenge part on "This Is Spinal Tap"?
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 12:26 AM by Wetzelbill
When Spinal Tap goes out and are rocking out on stage, they have these midgets dancing etc, and this two foot tall replica of Stonehenge is lowered down on stage and the crowd cracks up at the band? It's ridiculous right?

Well, early this morning as I was in the hospital actually getting a spinal tap (Lumbar Puncture) that scene kept running through my head. I could not stop thinking about it. I was stifling laughter while some doctor had a big needle jammed into my spine.

I kept singing Spinal Tap songs under my breath too. For some reason the doctor could not puncture the proper place and get the fluid out. They went through like four needles on me.

Meanwhile I'm singing: "Big bottoms, big bottoms, big bottoms drive me out of my mind, how could I leave this be-hi-hiiinnnnnd."

So if any of you ever wonder if I am as goofy in person as I am online. Well....

There you go. :)

Here is the scene from the movie:

1. You had an actual medical spinal tap?
What for?

What was it like?

I want to know, but part of me doesn't.

:scared:

BTW - ever seen the extra footage from Spinal Tap? It's quite possibly funnier than the actual movie.

3. to test for a brain aneurysm
I was stretching out while online yesterday and held my breath for an instant and something popped in my head. It felt like I had a ice cream headache times about a million. :)

It wasn't bad at all. They just give you a local anesthetic and then jam a needle in your back and you barely feel it. The only bad part is when it hits a nerve or something, you can feel the sensastion in your legs. It's a sharp pain. But really it's not too bad. The big problem with me is for some reason he couldn't puncture the proper place to get the fluid. He went through 4 needles and it took almost an hour. It sounds way worse than what it is though. You just have to get over the freaky idea that somebody is sticking a needle in your spine. :)

5. Have you seen the extra Spinal Tap footage?
There are some hilarious scenes with Billy Crystal, Dana Carvey and Bruno Kirby (the limo driver).

Thanks, I have my heroic moments. Some people save others or do things like that, I basically act like an idiot. Same thing. :)

12. it was
I am still not sure what to think. On one hand they said I'm perfectly fine, but on the other, I know how bad that felt, and it was more than just a headache. So I'm still a touch nervous, which means I'll be taking it extra easy until I'm feeling absolutely better. Better safe than sorry.

I tell you what, I don't scare easy, but this has shaken me up a bit. Totally planning on revamping my life, my diet and everything.
